Hello, all.
I'm Dan/pete, and I'm a brick-aholic. I'm about 30 miles from work these days, and my wife, the financial manager, decided I could spend some of my OT on a bike to ride to work on. The results are a 1987 K75S in red (metallic) (575). Has 57K miles on her, panniers (I have city bags from a former K, but they are pretty rough) and although obviously well cared for, I'm working on getting caught up on any delayed maint.
For the folks that follow build dates, the last 4 of the vin is 0375, that puts her born on 6/86 (2nd month of US production)

Welkom Dan,

A very good choice and a beautiful colour but I am biased.

Cheers, Dave.

I bought my first Beemer in about 05. It is an 88 K75S, that the PO had removed the fairing and installed a round headlight. It is Marrakesh Red(643) and at the time, I thought there was only that and Mystic Red (323). Nope. In pictures, my "new" 87 looked Marrakesh Red, but when I saw her in person, I thought "Cool. I like the Mystic red better!" From looking the paint number up, turns out the 87s were either Red (metallic), Black, or Silver.
Red (metallic) is close enough for me! My wife will tell ya any of the reds are the best color on a 'Brick.
Mine has either had a repaint, in original color, or this red is no where near as tough as the Marrikesh Red that BMW put on my 88. Much better cared for bike, but the paint, though it has a nice gloss, has more damaged areas than the abused 88.
P.S. Thanks for the welcome!
DJP
