Hi folks, new member here from Iowa.

The fairing is off of an R80 or R65 or R45 or something, it kind of makes it one of a kind.

I've been through about everything with it, even a dreaded final drive failure. Still have a bit of stuff to catch up on, but it's getting there.

I have a used K75s final drive you could get pretty cheap and quickly if you have need for 1.
I also have the matching driveshaft, but I believe the U-joint needs replacement as it has a "tight" spot when moving in one direction. All used parts will show some spline wear. A lot of folks here may be critical of the spline wear being "sawtoothed". My inspection shows that the splines on this rear end are excellent.  The unit turns through by hand smoothly & has no loose backlash. The motorcycle had 80,000 miles on it when it was taken out of service.
You can have the drive & the shaft shipped to your door for $88. Via USPS Flat Rate box

Welcome too.

Its a good site and there is actually atmosphere here. Great technical stuff but also great meet ups, fun, smileys and things. Everyone is very helpful with parts, advice, nice photos and tales of the unexpected.

The K is good for many miles, be it K75 K100 or K1100. There are many who would prefer the K75, it is smoother at certain revs and of course lighter to move around, important considering the age range here is from 21 to 84.!!!! Certain mature members [hopefully me one day too] worry more about their final drive when one would expect them to be using zimmer frames.

Maintenance is easy with the advice from here.

Thank you for the gracious offer, but it happened last summer and I was able to get it replaced.  Mine has oldster drum brakes, so I would have had to purchase all the rear brake stuff, and a new rear wheel.  I thought about upgrading to a paralever, but $$$ kept me replacing the unit, and reusing all my old stuff.

When I removed it the pinion nut was loose, allowing the pinion to move in and out in relation to the ring gear.  It still worked just fine, but made some "interesting" noises, most when decelerating.  Sounded like gravel, yuck.

When I saw the pic of your rear drive, I couldn't see how it could have become so chewed up, so thanks for letting us know that the nut was loose..............Something else to check when doing a spline lube, eh?

Great to have more k75s on the rd, love to ride one one day. no outcasts here in my short experience thus far, two or three wheels / cylinders what the heck it k ing around the place. I'll try an empty rd pic from NZ balzed the last one up.
