Hi All, Had an interesting little gremlin pop up the other evening. The red bulb warning light, the one that goes out after you hit the front and rear brakes as a test, would blink on briefly. I specify evening as the blink is very quick and faint and might be missed during full sunlight. Of course normally the light popping on means that the brake bulb is failing or has failed. But this would only happen after a ride and when I squeezed the front brake lever never for the rear. And it would just barely blink and then go off again, i.e. meaning the brake bulb was operational.  I've taken the bulb out and cleaned the contacts thinking maybe it was vibration dependent. But I could get it to do it even when the engine was off but power was on. And as I said it would happen only if I hit the front brake and not for the rear brake.

So I would suspect the lead coming from the front brake. Any suggestions as to where to check?

best regards
J.Jefferies

Maybe pull the relay for the ABS and see if it still wants to flash at you. May be related to that.

WD40 or similar into the front brake switch. They do corrode up.

It's normal if it just flashes for an instant when the brakes are first applied.  It's an instantaneous pulse in the bulb monitor.  It is more pronounced if you have LED's in the instrument cluster.

It's part of the bike's charm.  Nothing to worry about.

That's puzzling as my other K75 doesn't do the same and it only happens when I hit the front brakes. As I mentioned earlier, I have been suspecting a loose connection, not unusual on an older (1991) bike.

Have had that ona few Ks and it was a poor connection at the rear brake light bulb. A thorough clean of the bulb to bulb holder contacts and eventually a bulb change solved it.

I had a similar experience with my K100, it was a bad connector in the brake light circuit.
