Hey all,

I recently bought a 1985 BMW k100. Bike ran last fall (so im told) and wont turn over, it does crank tho. Sparks work, fuel pump is fine (tho is not perfect, it works), electricity checks out as far as lights and ignition. This is my first bike I’ve ever owned, never rode one before. Bought it in hopes of fixing it as a fun project. my background is in Mechanical Engineering.

Glad to be apart of the forum, looking forward to receiving feedback Smile and helping others.

It can be either or both in the US of A, depending on where you live and what you eat for breakfast. Crying or Very sad  Maybe in vividcolt's upcoming post in the Technical, repair and troubleshooting section will tell us whether it starts. Smile I have a feeling it doesn't. I had a '59 English Ford Escort station wagon that I could crank all day with an actual crank but it wouldn't start until its magneto was turned on during the fun.

I was there at the crank. Laughing If the magneto lever was pulled, the electric starter was disengaged. It had a wood trim-strips from the rear quarter panel to the front door, wood slat paneling on the rear load deck and on the rear of the folding rear seat. It was powered by a flathead four. It looked just like the one in the attached photo except it was painted Sherwood Forest Green. The arrow points to the keyway for the crank. I
