I had another look at Kostenlot and it appears that the engine block is indeed cracked. It has been steadily dripping oil for quite a while now from somewhere around the cam cover - without looking I assumed the gasket needed replacing. Three days ago I refilled the radiator and by last night there was a puddle of emulsion in the middle of the oil. It's not the pump - that's dry. Given it's (almost) unknown history, there's a very high chance the PO was unaware that it was damaged.
Hands up front - one from Motorworks would cost £515 including shipping and I just don't have that much spare cash. Y'know - pensioners crying poor again![Very Happy](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_biggrin.png)
