i used to ride this way when heading up the coast if not in a hurry from sydney to grafton
old pacific hwy to somersby turn off and head to wollembi home of dr jurds jungle juice this roads was sealed in the early 1990s follow road to singleton head towards gresford (or head up new england hwy)
from gresford head towards dungog (may still be dirt)turn off and go to stroud road head up the bucketts way to gloucester
head towards nabiac turn off and head to wingham
wingham via comboyne (dirt) to wauchope
head to pacific hwy to coffs harbour there is a road to telegraph piont but never went on it or turn left when yo reach the oxley hwy and to walcha
for those that are really really keen there is a road that goes from port macquarie to south west rocks that is dirt and really bad condition
road was pushed through during ww11 and i dont think the every grade it(dropped my old 75/5 3 times legs were too short and puddles too big)
coffs to grafton via glenraigh(golden dog pub was a good pub till it burnt down)
this way is the long way but they used to good bike roads dont know the condition of the blacktop these days
alliteratively you could go thunder bolts way to walcha never ridden this road
this will take longer but be heaps more fun than going up the pacific hwy never actually timed how long this took as we always kept stopping having rest breaks at pubs along the way and time was never an issue

On Thunderbolts way the down side on the coast is badly cut up and there is lots of road works along it but it's still worth riding.
