After 40 years of riding motorcycles this is my first BMW bike. The model I have is a K100RS of 1985 vintage. Although is old and rusty the quality of the components is clear. I'm preparing the bike for an MOT test and the obvious issue is that there is no rear brake light switch. After checking various web sites I think that the correct part is # 61311459569 which screws into the footrest plate. I think this part is the same one as the front brake switch. Any advice would be gratefully recieved. Best regards. Dave

Hi Dave, welcome from another new member.

Those early brake light switches were notorious for failures, I remember replacing several during the 80's, but they seem more reliable now; the last one I bought was in 2004. Yes, I keep all my receipts, sad isn't it?

Cheers, Paul.

Hi Dave,
You will have lots to do on your bike if you want to, like restoring it to anywhere up to and including as-new condition as some others here have done.
Regards,
K-BIKE
