When it gets to that stage I remove the sump and get a GOOD filter removal tool on to it. The sump is straight forward to take of and just needs some RTV silicone when replacing it to make it seal.
I have a friend here with a K and he puts the filter on like it holds the roof down and I have taken his sump of 3 times now but he don't learn.

Bloody hell, how tight is it !! Unbelieveable ! Oh well, looks like the sump needs to come off as suggested. Make it a once off though, don't over-tighten that filter ! There are some filter removal tools which actually clamp tighter under torque, but I guess it's even too tight for that.

Hey lesso, I moved this to Engine and transmission because there aren't any oil filters in our bikes' electrical systems! Very Happy
