Hello to all. Im the new lucky owner of a 1989 K100RS 2v ABS. Always wanted to own a bmw motorcycle and well now I do Very Happy Bought It about a month ago and taking it easy, getting used to the feel of the bike. Will be going over the bike and making some safety upgrades and well just getting to the best shape that it can be. Ive followed up on this forum and have to say its one of the main reasons I went for a K100, but i still want an airhead ...one day anyways. Hope to meet fellow riders and to have a good time of course. Always open to advice or tips of any sort since Im pretty much new to this and as"green" as they get you could say 👽 Thank you all for your time and future help. Thank you

Welcome to the forum.

After few months on the K, you may forget about a flat twin. I always dreamed about a r100rs, but now, I would prefer to get another K in the shed.

Funny thing is that I was looking for either a r100gs or a k100, but in all honesty I wished I owned almost every model. But your absolutely right Crazy Frog, I love my bike more everyday ;BMW;

Welcome to the forum K-619RS.

Keep the K and buy an airhead as well! Two bikes are more fun than one!

I'm with Crazy Frog...I secretly want a R100RS.

That is a pretty bike you've found. Good luck sorting it out and making it uniquely your own. I found an unloved 1985 K100RS last year and have (mostly) enjoyed upgrading it and setting it up for my particular needs. Question: does your bike have two bellypans? It appears so in the pix.
I am fortunate to also have a 1983 R100RS which I enjoy immensely. I'm getting to the point where heavy bikes are a hand full - I'm worried I'll drop it in a parking garage. The R100RS feels like a comparative featherweight after getting off the K-bike. The latter handles better at speed, of course, but both are a joy to ride. Very Happy

Welcome aboard K. The paint scheme on your bike is really tastefully done.

Thank you all for the compliments and warm welcomes. Brickrider, I can see what you mean, but no its only one bellypan. Its the color scheme( silver on top/ blue on the bottom) that gives it that appearance. Hey does anyone know how I can find out if this is the original paint scheme? Im pretty sure it is but I would like to find out what kind of options it came with also.

I'm pretty sure it is not original color scheme, it looks like it's similar to the 1988/9? K100RS Sonda which was identical except it was white where the silver is and it had white wheels with red and blue pin stripes around the rims. Fork braced front end and ABS.

I must agree. My memory goes back quite far with these bikes. During that period there was a special promotion by BMWNA in the US. The price was reduced on 1988 models and they had a blue/white color scheme that is reminiscent of yours - but not precisely like it. I think yours has had a re-spray of at least some of the parts. It's a nice looking bike!

That 88 promo was to get rid of the last of the 2v RSs so they tarted them up a bit and flogged them of before the 16v hit the streets.
It was a nice colour scheme and suited the RS well.
