Ok, I have searched and PM'd till I am blue in the face, I have an 85 K100RS and want to start (slowly) into a military/scrambler/GS/Adventure Dual Sport Bike, NOW can i get all that in one, sure I think so but would love some input from the Pro's on here and yes the listing below is gonna include (Ok how do I do that??) This will stay for now a 2 seat bike

Here is where I want to start

1-Dual Sport Tires, yes with knobs to an extent! Shinko 700 series I am pretty sure
2-leaving the front upper RS fairing and light on but wanting it to look Like Floyds build but not sure if he stuck with the RS fairing as it looks to have been trimmed some if he did
3-Moving the front fender up around 3-4" (Ok how do I do that??)
4-Driving lights (not sure what kind or where to mount)
5-Radiator guard without all the fiberglass (Ok how do I do that??)
6- Paint tank, fairing, and rear
7-Panniers and Rear Tail Rack(??)
8-Driving light guards and head light guards ( I know, but I like the looks of the mesh wire that would also be used on the radiator and any other place that you think)(Ok how do I do that??)
9-Hand guards (Ok how do I do that??)
10-Fork gaiters
11-Muffler that fits the theme of the build but doesnt cause any issues with the 2nd rider

Ok I know I am being scoffed at by the purist but please bear with me Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

and Yes I am starting with basically the same bike as Floyd, pic belongs to floyd!! And I havent been able to get in touch with Floyd yet:)

Sounds like a cool project.
Here's a thread about options for the radiator grille
https://www.k100-forum.com/t7593-custom-radiator-grille

There's also a good thread somewhere on suitable tyres

I can help with a few of these.

1-Dual Sport Tires, yes with knobs to an extent! Shinko 700 series I am pretty sure I have these on my bike. Cheaper than Heidenau(sp) and more chunky. Overall not bad for semi off road tyres on a road bike

2-leaving the front upper RS fairing and light on but wanting it to look Like Floyds build but not sure if he stuck with the RS fairing as it looks to have been trimmed some if he did Pretty sure it is the RS fairing. All the internals are removed (black rubber bits)

3-Moving the front fender up around 3-4" (Ok how do I do that??)

4-Driving lights (not sure what kind or where to mount) Do you have crash bars? That is a good spot. Under the front to the fairing (flat section under the headlight). post by Duck

5-Radiator guard without all the fiberglass (Ok how do I do that??) Check out Charlies thread '85 RT Resto...Hey im not making a show bike'

6- Paint tank, fairing, and rear
7-Panniers and Rear Tail Rack(??)
8-Driving light guards and head light guards ( I know, but I like the looks of the mesh wire that would also be used on the radiator and any other place that you think)(Ok how do I do that??)

9-Hand guards (Ok how do I do that??) You can get them from Motorworks in the UK. Search for part HAA15870A

10-Fork gaiters Search motorworks for SUA34910

11-Muffler that fits the theme of the build but doesnt cause any issues with the 2nd rider

Substitute any BMW type dealer for Motorworks. Max. Chattanooga etc

IME if you keep the standard mirrors then driving lights on the crashbars is not a good idea. Light spillage illuminates the underside of the mirror pods and annoys like hell. As Rossko pointed out, if you're using reasonably lightweight ones then the underside of the fairing nose is man enough to hold them. However, if you want something that's a real driving light and throws out a decent beam spread and distance, you'll need to make a good mounting frame because the lights will be too heavy for the glassfibre.

The mounting bar for the 5.25" auxiliary headlights on mine bolts to a flat bar welded across the front of the fairing spider. That means I can drop the whole assembly off without disturbing the fairing.

The 4" spot lights actually do mount on the fairing - sort of. The horns have a captive nut and bracket on the fairing spider. I moved the horns, bored a pair of 20mm (??) holes through the fairing directly in front of the captive nuts and filled the holes with a pair of mounting rubbers from a naked K headlight nacelle. The rubbers have an ID of 12mm which is a nice fit for a piece of 12mm OD/8mm ID tube. The bolt holding the spotlight bracket on goes through the tube and into the horn captive nut and the mounting rubbers act as vibration dampers/cushions.

Regarding running lights, I have a pair of these on both of my K bikes.  They mount nicely under the chin of the RS and RT fairings.  They put out as much light as the headlight at night and are like looking at a welding arc in the daylight.  Cast aluminum housing, stainless hardware and good waterproofing.  The price is right and they only take about 1.5A to run the pair.

Rosskko is correct (and a top bloke to bootT)...I am mostly homeless except for the K and LOVING it!

ALso, I spilt water on my brand new macbook pro which has made me even more out of the loop. anyways, its being fixed now and blah blah blah.

Here is the PM svlwolf sent me, which ill answer here for anyone else that comes across it.

I am using stock front end and want to raise my mud guard up some (how did you do that or how could i do that with the std forks on)
I didnt get around to this and dont think i will. I have enough clearance and think that if im in muddy enough situations for the guard to get blocked up....well Ill have many other concerns too...

I want to shorten the mud guard as you did (any pics of how you cut it etc?)
.I just marked it with a black pen and cut it with an angle grinder I think. Then shaped it\finished it with sand paper. easy peasy. I only cut the rear piece.

What type hand guards did you use?
.If your sticking with the k100 front end then you can use the stock BMW handguards off that R100GS. they fit right on. But they are just wind guards really. they perform zero hand protection\lever protection etc when you drop the bike. I used a set (image bellow) that are copies of "barkbusters". They have a think aluminium bar running through them, not just plastic. Ebay search for motorcycle hand guards and youll find them. make sure the mounts have a pivot point, like the ones in the pick. not just a solid bit of aluminium. that way they can be moved etc to suit your handle bars.

What fairing is on the front?
K100RS but cut down. marked by eye and cut wtih an angle grinder.

What driving light setup did you finally use?
Havnt yet, dont do much night riding and still trying to determine where the best place for them would be as I dont want to continually break them when I drop the beast.

Did you ever put a sump guard on?
Not yet. Still designing my crash protection system.
