hi,

my 1987 (8v) K100 has non original H.T leads with a resistor (looks that way at least) - what should be their resistance?

thank you
Roy

Check the EFI web page. I have measured a spare one and found 12.6 k between the 2 HT leads and 2.6 Ohms on the primary.
This is without the HT leads on

can anyone tell me what should be the resistance of the H.T coils on our bikes? Coil1 can anyone tell me what should be the resistance of the H.T coils on our bikes? Coil1%20(1) can anyone tell me what should be the resistance of the H.T coils on our bikes? Coil2

My 4 valve data manual says the primary is 0.5 Ohm and the secondary is 13 Kilohms.

how about the cables, considering they r supposed to have a resistor in them?

tnx

As I understand it the resistor is in the caps of the K 100 and the leads have solid conductors. The K75 has a spark gap inside the cap instead.

K-Bike,
Beachcomber on the Flyingbrick forum supplies New sets of leads that have been proven 100% reliable. Both for K75 and K100.
I believe at discounted prices about £35 a set.
Beware fitting unproven leads, they can blow up your brain. (electrical that is). He is now negotiating Discs.
I believe he is shortly going to join this forum as I have recommended it to him.
Thought you ought to know this.
Crazy Frog is aware of Flyingbrick forum, he has been on it in the past. Ajays Old Un.

I have observed the T/S sections carefully. While trying to solve an intermittant miss at low RPM (85 K100rs). I'm testing Ign. coils.

Most popular opinion here says the high tension side should be 12.6Kohms. Another source says 13K.

The coils on my K read: 1&4 = 16.75Kohms, 2&3 = 10.75. I'm guessing that 2&3 might be somewhat shorted showing lower resistance????????

I have a spare parts bike. On that unit, 1&4 = 17Kohms, 2&3= infinity (open).

So none of the 3 coils I have read quite near the 13K spec.

Can I substitute the 1&4 coil off the parts bike for the 2&3 coil on the runner? I'm guessing they are identical except for the sticker that indicates the correct primary wiring colors. (ibjman@cox.net)

Yes you are right.
The coils are the same at the exception of the stickers
