I suggest that you get the front mudguard extension from Motobins it will help preserve the paint of the under engine air deflector.

Now let me get this straight, you have a near as damn it immaculate K100RS and you live on the Isle of Man and don't expect to put many miles on it, hmmmm.

Granted the distances would not be great but a few laps should sort that out.

Thanks for the link to the mudflap K-BIKE. Just what I was looking for.

I removed the mudguard to get good positioning with the new extender and noticed the whole middle section around the hose union was full of crap. I reckon its a worthwhile job every now & again to remove both front & rear parts of the mudguard and give it a good brushing out & regrease the bolts etc, (particularly if you live in a wet part of the world ).

Can`t remember the name of the bloke that showed me the way round the TT circuit.
He was riding a Triumph triple and I was on a R 90 RS
When we came to ramsey on the second pass he flagged me down and we had a pint together.Nice people on Monas Island!!!!
Must have been `87 or`88
He was going fast and I kept my eyes on his breaklight all the time!!.
I had the pleasure to shake hands with Joey Dunlop and he showed me the marks where his helemet had touched the stonewall at Ginger Hall.....

I recall when I used to go to the TT every year there used to be a German guy who came every year on a BMW with a three sided dog box with a full size Alsatian dog which used to sit in the three sided box on its haunches as he whizzed round the circuit. He apparently drove from Germany every year bypassing the quarantine rules somehow?

There is a school of thought that filling the threads with the weakest grade of Loctite is a good idea, as it stops salty water penetrating and corroding the thread and also stops them loosening with vibration.

A good product frequently used here is the Never seize. We are living along the water too and this product is the fisherman friend. I particularly use it on the wheel studs of my car, but it can have a lot of other applications as it is heat resistant.

Bert raises a good point with using the Never Seez. In the same vein the exhaust nuts on the K can be a real problem to get off with corrosion jamming the nuts in place. It is well worth loosening off one at a time, coating them with high temperature Never Seez or Nickel Permatex and then screwing them back tight. If all the nuts are done that way if you ever need to get the exhaust off the high temperature stuff will almost guarantee the job will be easy. The studs are very slim and perilously easy to snap off as many people find to their dismay.

Last point some people replace their bolts into alloy on the bike with stainless and that can be a big problem with corrosion between the two metals and the marine grade Bert mentions is just the stuff to stop that. I have been using Tef Gel for the same purpose on every bolt I remove.
