I am currently running 130/90 17 on My rear.... and a 100/90 18 on the front....

It's time to get a larger rear going up to the 140/80 17 my question is can I keep the front as stock as it's got more meat on it than a Rib Eye Steak so don't want to bin it yet....

forgot to mention I am using BT45's at the moment...

i have tried both the 130 and the 140 options twincarb ....same brand of tyre to the front and both were great i think im doing better with the 140 this time around, but still only about 7000 ks up yet

looks to me that i got a long way to go before it gets down to thinking about a change

btw i have the 110 on the front

Hi there, I´ve been running 110/80 at front during the last 12000Km, I think you can not fit nothing wider there, at least on mine. At rear I had run 140/80 and now 150/70, the last being the limit for both wide clearances and rim size.

110/80-18 front and 140/80-17 rear works fine on the stock wheels. A shop once made an error and put a 120/7ZR18 front tire on my bike instead of the 110/80ZR-18 I thought I was buying and it fit fine. The difference in steering feel made me look at the tire sidewall and that is when I noticed the size was wrong, but it didn't rub anything. The shop was apologetic and replaced the tire with the size I wanted. If you are ever in a bind and need a tire right now, it is something to keep in mind.

Hi, did anyone try wider tyres, 120 front, 160 rear? Is it possible on rear without modifications (spacers)?

Nino, like I said above, a tire shop once put a 120/70ZR18 on the front and nothing rubbed. I made the shop replace it because I noticed the difference in steering feel, but it does fit.

You can put a 4.5X18 rear wheel and 160/60ZR18 tire on the back of an early K and it will fit except for the stock K100 muffler. If you use a muffler from a 16 valve bike or aftermarket exhaust the collector will clear the tire adequately where the stock collector will rub. You cannot put a 160 tire on the stock, narrow rear wheel.

A five spoke wheel is 2.75x17 and therefore too small for a 150mm tyre. The proper width wheel would be 4" wide for that size. Maximum tyre width for your wheel is 140mm in an 80 series.

Dual sport tires on a K bike? That sound you just heard was my rectum slamming shut.

Dual compound tyres would be the ideal!

i guess in the 140 tyre range? my local place says they can't get any in the 130's...
