on the dash pad of a 91 RS the ring that goes around the ignition switch that has the on,off,park etc. postitions printed on it does BMW call that the "step plate" I'd like to order one but not sure if that's the right part thanks

looking at maxbmw yes thats what it is called P/N 61 32 1 459 319.

The same part from motorworks is p/n ELA59319 The strange thing about a new one is that the white lettering is printed on both sides! and yet it had rubbed off of my original one!

I selected the wrong year! Definitely the right description though, having selected the right year that's the same number I come up with!

Strange that Motorworks don't stock the one for the 16V I would have thought the part would have stayed the same throughout the years!

The 8v has a off, park, on positions and a 16v has lock, off and on positions.

went down to order one and there isn't one in the US had to get it from the factory but thats ok thanks guys for your responses always a wealth of info here
