I have a MultiVario on the K100rs and I'm having a heck of a time fastening & removing the mounting plate "hooks" on the sides. Especially the right side.
The way they are designed they have to kind of rotate and snap over the lower tank seam. It seems there's almost no way to rotate the bottom edges around the lower seam without the upper end of the clip contacting the outer bottom of the tank.
I gently bent the clip outward with 2 pairs of vice grips but it didn't seem to get any easier to put on or get back off.
On my upcoming journey, I may have to take a small pair of vice grips with me just to get the needed hand leverage to remove it.

I would normally just remove the bag from the base plate but the side zippers are a bit buggered at the rear corners. If I separate those it takes like a half hour to get the zippers closed up again.

Please help me fix the strap fasteners!!!

Regards, Ibjman

Hi Ibj!

Have owned three multivario's for the K100, none of them have been a problem to mount on the bike.

Do have bought a baseplate/bag that is meant for a K1/1100?

One the one for the K100's the hook is made of a thick steel wire.
The ones meant for a K1/1100 is made of a steel plate.
One the later ones the elastics is shorter, as these use a hook mounted at the tank side (in the battery cover mount ear, as used on the K100's).

Thank You Inge! A man of few words but immense knowledge.

Your post motivated me to re-examine my situation. As usual the problem was caused by altering the bike from it's stock configuration (something I've been know to preach long and loud against)......and by "operator error".

The problem was caused by an ill fitting aftermarket plastic heat shield on the right side. I found it necessary to carve an opening in the upper edge of the heat shield in order to provide clearance for the retaining hook to be able to be pulled "straight down" without hitting the shield.
Thanks again Inge. I hope to post some pictures from the rally experience when I return home.
Wish me luck......LOL
Regards, Ibj...
