Bit of a duplication (https://www.k100-forum.com/t9825-south-west-england-meet-26-28-jun-15#119592), but to keep the picture visible in the right place on the forum...

The Aussie Banner made it's way down to Cullompton in Devon this weekend where I met up with Side Car Paul. Sadly, no other K100 forum members were able to join us, but we did our best to persuade a couple of K100 owners with sidecars to pose with us and the banner. Hopefully, we will see their introductions soon.

So, the list as it stands (hopefully with necessary corrections made)
The Banner - Page 2 Banner10

The banner will be going in the mail tomorrow and heading back over to Ireland for Ringfad to take with him on his Scandinavian tour. It's been good to have been able to play a small part in its journey around the world.

Thanks to all involved in getting the banner around.

I'm wondering whether I'm the one who has travelled the longest distance from home to autograph it - Goulburn NSW to Dublin, Ireland.

I suspect that you will indeed be claiming the longest distance travelled.

Was just talking to 88KE and seems a Spanish forum member is over here and they may have arranged a meet up. I was thinking if the banner is making its way back to Ringfad that a little detour could be made if he is passing via Dublin.......

The banner will have some story to tell and I was thinking of listing some of the routes it took here. That is unless some of the signing times were clouded.....

The banner is due in Dublin on the 11th July - not sure if that suits our Spanish member. To save postage I asked Paul to send it to my parents house and then a friend is bringing it to Dublin on the 11th July.

It will then be shipped to Norway  (with the bikes) for its Scandinavian Tour which starts on the 18th July near Oslo (Rygge).
I am hoping to meet up with Inge on Monday 27th July and anyone else along the way.

it hasn't been south yet Charlie, still many places abroad and local for it to visit .
The look in the faces of Rosskko and yourself at the time of bidding was too much to bear , we just had to have it . good to see it getting exposure instead of hanging on a wall in someones abode, one day maybe.

So far..............

Also good to see why he chose his avatar. Wink

Meet ups are indeed a wonderful aspect of this K community, with Simon being my first international meet up. Good stuff.

Hi all , I got to say not having been active here for quiet a while I am amazed at where the Banner has been going , great to see lots of names still active , may try for the far cairn again but I think it may clash with a local favourite The Dargo Run , which I'm doing on a recently acquired Honda xr650r , getting into the adventure thing a bit . Still got all me k's though, currently building a leading link on the k1100 chair I fitted a while back almost done.  Will try and post more .CHEERS AB Very Happy

In the Far Cairn hosting club, BMWTCNSW;there are a few that do Dargo also, those members usually make sure the two rallies dont clash. Probably a week apart.

Yep AL-58 just checked the dates and they are a week apart, so I will se how I pull up after the Dargo run as I.m going the long way in the scrub3 days of dirt and then 2 days of festivities could be a bit knackered, maybe a relaxed run on the armchair if I get the front end finished in time  AB

It would be good to see you there.

For anyone that might be there early we've organised a sit down dinner at the pub on the Friday night.  The Friday night diinners pre-rally have been really good and popular but last year at the Bowlo was a fiasco, not to be repeated.

The banner is unique in its design and idea because it tells a better story.

The mention of the sit down dinner is good, we had a fantastic one up in Norn Iron last year, very sociable and a great time for chat and K talk. Our recent K breakfast at Stradbally was great too but too short!.

Keep me posted on the date you need banner back for........if its tight we will send it air mail. The cardboard outer tube has not been travelling around but is currently in Ringfad's custody. For travels it has been safe inside a plastic drawing tube which does actually fit inside the cardboard tube.

it has been such a delight watching our Irish mates convey it to other forum members and create new friendships across the Kontinents.
the many memories gained from this experience with be rekindled at many future gatherings , near and far I'm sure.
The return trip for the Banner is still under scrutiny , so if you would be so kind as to hold on to it for the moment , we'll get back to you shortly.

we can now say yes it has . The story behind this part of the banner  sKroll was certainly one of adventure . Gaz might enlighten us firther in his own time as second versions usually lose parts in their interpretation .
"Pog Mo Thoin ' in its many homeland dialects translates to " kiss my behind " , through the work of the eccentrics and Gaz , the sKroll has been kissed by the Blarney stone.
"Pog " can be seen here with the addition of the mark of our Irish brethren
our good brother Bill ( Indian 036) has put to task the offering of Aussie forum stickers , of which now takes its place on the forum sKroll.
here we give Olaf the opportunity to peruse our works . Thankyou to all our global Krew  including the Eccentrics , BAE , Tackler , Bill and Gaz for the care and effort in sharing this adventure with the global friendship which is the K100 forum.

The continued care of the sKroll is something which has been raised at several points , not yet receiving everyones consensus on the matter , my suggestions are that it be placed in trust with Al-58 and the BMWTCNSW for use at BMW rallies .
reason for this suggestion is ,
Al was instrumental in the ordering of this sKroll for the purposes of the 30 year celebrations at Far Kairn in 2013.
Al has become a strong contributor to this forum, and is very supportive of as a krew member here in Oz.
this decision does not remove regular users from access to the sKroll , it would simply provide a central fixed location for use by members .
a response from Al on behalf of the BMWTCNSW is yet to be received , I'm sure that the majority of members here would be of approval to this idea.
What does Al think?
We still have a lot more ground ( globe ) to cover which will take time to do.
Next ride for the sKroll will be to Karuah in Feb , then to ..........

The Banner - Page 2 Hunter10
the sKroll receiving a most cheerful welkome back in OZ with a video link up to Olaf . The puddings went down a treat thanks mate .
Left to right; Nigel (Kaptain Hollister), Craig (Smithy), Warren ( Wazza), Tom (Grabau), Ed (groverK), Rosskko, Rick G, Gaz, Warren (Waz). Olaf in front.

due to misadventures had by Sean and Bella , they missed the Far Kairn Rally, but it was good to take this pic of both Sean and Kerrie together.

Great to see the sKroll is safely back on home turf again. It was an honour to be able to be involved with a small part of it's first trip away from home. Long may it be a talking point and a symbol of our forum friendships.

I look forward to hearing of it's next adventures...

It was a fantastic adventure.

I really enjoyed the scheming that went on with Gaz that sort of led to the suggestion it accompany him back to Australia. When we met at Stradbally early November he had the bad news that it would not fit in the luggage so we just decided to hold tough for a small bit when it sort of led to his suggestion about the Christmas Krew meet up and pulling a surprise. In between it has travelled the corners of Ireland on my K and a lot further with Born Again Eccentric and Ringfad and we even got it back in the same tube it arrived in.

Ed, you have no idea how important it was that you made it up to Gaz for this weekend. The sKroll has really become a story in itself.

I think you all did the homecoming proud.

As for Gaz, well, his enjoyment over here and the devilish twinkle in his eye, a visit to the Blarney stone and a name like McCarthy he can only be an 'Eccentric gone asKew'.

Clearly the rest of the Krew are of similar disposition.

He did well. Struggled all the way up to Norway, ferries[?], drove endless miles through the wilderness to get the sKroll up to Inge. Endured starvation only ended by Inge's wonderful bbq and hospitality, all to deliver proper Irish brewed Guinness to Inge and get his signature on the sKroll.

Yep, times can be hard.

Its a Kommunal thing........but a great event. Its given me some great ideas and looks like no shortage of ideas down your way either.

The whole idea seemed so much nicer than just simply popping the sKroll in the mail. There was a Gaz lot of fun going on and it was very enjoyable.

You had a lot going on at the weekend and its great to see how it all worked out.

Hi All, Ed has maybe foolishly invited me to tell the story of "Pog Mo Blarney Stone" so here is how it panned out.

Prior to my leaving Oz, Ed had sent me a message inquiring whether I might be visiting Blarney Castle and mentioned it would be good to have "Pog Mo" sign the banner.  I was able to answer in the affirmative regarding Blarney Castle as it was always going to be on my list as a McCarthy but I had no idea what this Pog Mo thing was all about.

Having landed in the Emerald Isle and made our way to Cork there were discussions over dinner with Olaf and Bjorn about a visit to Blarney and Olaf agreed to bring the sKroll to our hotel early the next morning so that we might attempt this adventure. Photo below of the handover (note the tubular container that housed the sKroll).

So we duly arrived at Blarney Castle and I sauntered up to the ticket office with that tube casually slung over my shoulder by the carry strap. Now with the world in the state that it is in any item that is long and slim being carried, even by an old bloke from Oz, causes some questions to be asked.
So I tried to explain to the ticket seller that the tube only contained a club banner that I wanted to take up to the top of the castle. This answer resulted in "Please wait over there to one side while I consult with my colleague". The result of the consultation was that they could not allow me to take the banner in and I would have to speak to their boss, I think it was Stephen.

OK so we wait for them to try to locate Stephen who turned out to be quite reasonable when he arrived. We explained the plan again to him about the sKroll being a sort of club banner that had been signed by members from all round the world and we thought it might be a bit of fun to take it up to be kissed by the Blarney Stone. His main concern wasn't that we might have something sinister in the tube but that we must NOT under any circumstance hang the banner over the side of the castle walls. I assume he was concerned about political or protest type banners.

In a display of Irish high tech communications between the members of the Blarney Castle team he instructed me to tell the guys up at the top of the castle that I had spoken to Stephen and it was OK for me to have pictures taken with the sKroll at the Blarney Stone.

So we were in! As we started to explore the castle and got to the ancient spiral staircase that leads up to the battlements Ruth (who is not that keen on heights) decided that she would not go up and we back tracked out onto one of the lower terraces for her to relax while I went up.

Off I went to climb the stairs with the sKroll tube slung diagonally across my back so that I had both hands free. Now those of you who have ventured up the tower stairways in ancient castles will already know, they get narrower as you go up. I managed to get almost to the top when I got stuck due to the sKroll tube getting wedged against the walls. This is easily overcome by backing down until you can get it off, except that the stairway is full of other tourists behind you that also have to back down. Much confusion and thankfully more mirth than anger got all behind me to back down until I could get the tube off and carry it in front of me up to the top.

Once at the Blarney Stone I explained to the two guys there that Stephen had said it was OK for me to roll out the sKroll. The roll of the eyes and shake of the heads indicated their thoughts of another nut case from Oz. By now the people who were behind me in the stairway seemed to getting into this lark and didn't complain about how long it took for me to get both sides of the sKroll photographed and then me to do the "kiss".

And so it was done!
Under careful instructions from Olaf, I applied the "Pog Mo Blarney Stone" notation to the sKroll.

A great bit of fun and I was pleased to be part of this story.

Cheers
