We read about how economical (or not) our bikes are.

How about we go the other way.
Everyone likes the 'ride it like you stole it' motto.

So for one tank of petrol/ gas in the month of April, ride it like you stole it and post the mileage here.

Lowest mileage wins.

The winner will receive a t shirt of my choosing posted anywhere in the world.

It is still March 31 here so not an April fools joke.
Entries in by May 4 Sydney time.

As the prize is so awesome and to keep it fair, PM me your result.
I will post them all up on the 4th.

One attempt. One tank of petrol.

I was going to suggest only K100 need apply, but I see the 75 100 and 1100 have similar quoted mpg and we may as well all have some fun.
Sidecars are allowed.
One up.
No trailers/ campers or whatever else you may think to tow.
If you have one of those little fuel extender filler cap thingies? unlucky.

No speeding  Rolling Eyes  It is against the law.  April fuel challenge, no joke. 167893

Unfair. No speed limit in Germany......so its legal to ride there in one straight line at 8,000rpm having first taken off the fairing to increase wind resistance and fuel consumption.....

I will ride the rig with 2 passengers in the sidecar, a pillon and fill the auxiliary tank with 11 gallons of gas (I won't use the transfer pump). oh, just the sidecar weights 123 kg and the bike has 15" wheels. Normally, I can use up to 11l/100km if I ride a bit aggressively.
I am certain to win.
The way that the weather is, I don't think I will be able to compete for another month. A storm yesterday, and tonight we will have ice pellets.  Sad

It's still march here (90 minutes left) so I can tell my latest;
K75RT 1l/17km

Trip sunday filled it up, did a round Limburg Netherlands, some Belgium, and a bit Germany, had mountains, piece of highway, lots of small streets in villages, long ccurvy roads to find the ends of my steps, and monday (today) a short trip to Belgium and return, filled up in Belgium.
Bike is in good condition, will need service at 30000km, have 1200 to go to get there.

Now I will keep silence  Wink

Well, today I went out and used a tankful on the solo, just to show rossKo that we still love him. ❤

I filled up some 5 miles from home on the way out and ½ mile from home on the way back, covering 208 miles between the fill-ups. Some motorway, some A roads, with and without dual-carriageway and lots of twisty lanes in the Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire countryside.

I used 18.05 litres for 208 miles which translates to 5.4 ltr/100km (if my maths are correct).

In real figures that's 53mpg, so, although not a prize winner, I'm quite happy with that. Very Happy

April fuel challenge, no joke. Sam_0820

Actually, it was a Midland section of the BMW Club meet up and ride. 8 bikes turned up at Jack Hill's café at Towcester for tyre kicking and coffee and 6 of us continued for a 50 mile ride through the lanes. 3 modern boxers, a newish 700? single, a K1200GT and, of course, a really fine K100RS.

Paul.

Rode to get a picture to the "lets play tag".

It gave some kilometers at our motorway, and there wasn't a lot of traffic, so some km whit 8500RPM, and a oil temp of 110C.

The petrol economy was 13.62km/l =  21mpg = 7,34l/100km

Just forgot:

https://www.spritmonitor.de/de/detailansicht/625730.html,
I just started using this for the bike this year, but have been using it for my car som time
Spritmonitor

I find it rather good, and have a app on my phone, to make the entries.

Last fill up recorded 35.9mpg (12.7km/l) that was quite a "ride like you stole it" run but the current empty tank (needs filling on next outing and emptied just inside the month) I recon was an even more tweaked ride. I'll see what that one comes out as...

edit: most recent fill up came out as 35mpg (8.1l/100km) last 8 miles were really gentle though as the fuel light came on at 140mi and any heavy acceleration/cornering starved the fuel pump.

This bloke has by far the best mileage I've ever seen. Not great acceleration, but a reasonable top speed considering the fuel usage.

I dont think I'm in it. Last tank was 17km/l approx.

This tank is post new timing chain, correct valve clearances and injectors cleaned.  19.7km/l.  That's roughly 50% 60-80, 50% 110kmh limits

For your comp I'm definately going in the wrong direction.

Maybe when I replace the clutch and start revving it a bit harder (slips if I give it too much in 5th)

Al
