You would be proud of me, talked him into keeping it, he was thinking of selling! He was rather useful to have around when Bikey got a puncture actually  And yep, think i will need the luck! Me and Bikey did have an agreement though that if i spent all this money on him he would get round Germany and back for me! Lots of photos to put up when i get back hopefully!

Well back from Germany, done over 2500 miles, Bikey is still alive and kicking with a speedo reading of 120687 miles. Absolutely loved Germany, hated Holland, way too flat everywhere!

Unfortunately blue eyes and silver were not with me on this trip  definitely taking them next time!

Bikey doubles up as a washing line at the campsite by one of the Dams, had just been swimming in the lake behind, was absolutely stunning but 40 degrees plus riding temperature wasnt fun!

Ha ha loads more pictures but taking ages to upload as pretty big! So proud of my bike, he coped better than a few of the newer bikes! On the way back the gs was making some rather odd noises! Think the most bizarre thing on the trip was being approached by someone talking fluent German andthen when he realised we were eEnglish he dropped into the most cockney accent I've ever heard, understood him better in German! Definitely want to go back, should join us  x

Ah, you been to my neighbours    Germans.

Germans speaking english are worth a laughter, but also depends on in wich part of Germany you are, and ofcourse how well the know english.

Sounds like a good trip was had. Bikey did good and the starter issue wasn't an unknown one. Nothing like a good run to Europe and looks like more trips are on the cards. I now have to search my archives for a few ladybird photos. They like the L T.

Ha ha find spiders love him when hes covered in dead bugs! Obviously haven't had enough of camping, off again tomorrow!

Great photos and good tales. But lake swimming gives me the horrors after being eaten alive by flying carnivores the first and only time I did it.

Well, this morning found two of my kittens asleep on top of the rear wheel, up snug under the mudguard. Their mum sleeps on the top box.

Decided to hit the campsite www.norevalleypark.com on 6th August for an extended weekend, meeting Stradbally Fayre on the Saturday. You and blue eyes should come over.....

I'd love a cat but the alcoholic dog might eat it  camping this weekend is in the yorkshire dales for a catch up with blue eyes and silver and show him some proper roads  would love to do ireland but stuck on dog sitting that week

Have a dog too, it learned fast that cats are to be respected. I have found the cat and dog sleeping together in the kennel.

Ha ha she's enough of a pain! She is a bit of a psycho when it comes to cats, shame we don't still have the old cat, he used to wait the other side of the catflap and ambush the Jack Russell while he squeezed through!

Route all planned for tomorrow! on Google maps, Blackpool>Hawes (not the route it shows, i know a better way!) then Hawes to Ketterwell and then on to the campsite in Lofthouse. So excited  Even more excited to see if blue eyes and silver can keep up on my roads

If he doesn't keep up then you will have a Lone Ranger on Silver following you. . .

Ha ha he will be lost if he dosnt keep up, we do off road and everything  Might l;eave the really bad Ford out, im not that cruel

Cant really afford to lose him anyway, he comes in handy when Bikey gets a puncture! Plus not bad company

Ended up doing the Yorkshire moors instead and Whitby and a place called Great Fryup Dale! And not one place doing fryups! Think they are missing a business opportunity!

Make it over for the Norn Iron trip and you will be treated to a proper Ulster Fry. Can't start the day without a fry up. Blue eyes must be wrecked, 2 nights away and no fry up. You have to bring blue eyes when you come over!

Will drag him over eventually! Hes been told he will be doing Wales if you guys come over! And silver was just having some indicator issues so he should be putting him back together  Had a nice ride out on saturday but its not the same when its not two ks, love looking in my mirrors and seeing a k there!

I was just discussing the prices of ferries yesterday I would Like to do a little Welsh spin. In at Fishguard up through the Brecons and Snowdonia and back via Holyhead. September up North first tho and see how the funds go for Autumn after!

its a bit cooler down south or up in the tablelands (1300 meters) becky ...perhaps similar riding temperatures to old blighty ,,,but up here it is hot and sweaty for most of "k"weensland   remember traveling north 1 time by plane (first trip)  got out and nearly melted with the humidity .....im sure there are many other places in the world similar  ... we were talking today of the amazing heat bubble behind the fairing of most of the k bikes and how beneficial it might be in cool climates .

Charlie, you're right. I thoroughly appreciated the RT fairing and the bike's 'build-in heating' in Scotland, but can't imaging riding a RT here in Florida. We came out of Germany one time to get the ferry back to Newcastle whilst it was 35C, going rather quick (  ) on the highways, so riding wind no issue - We had to take drinking stops instead of fuel stops as we were cooking behind the fairing!

Sounds like one in a million and the makings of a nice outing if you both make it.

I went looking at tickets to Wales for an October trip and found that it is cheaper to get tickets to France. France is tugging at the head again, Brittany and Normandy are hard to beat even in October. But I have to say that Wales is awesome and no doubt at the very least 88KE and myself will be making that trip since we have got our camping equipment well sorted.

Ha ha he is lovely, having so much fun together! off to Wales next weekend together for the bank holiday. As for the heat thing, when we went to Germany and the temperature was around 40 degrees i ended up with burns on my knees! Really appreciated the warmth last night though, riding back from seeing Blue eyes (did around 400 miles yesterday and was very tired and around 11pm its pretty cold!) Bikey is just about to go over 122000miles, 3 miles off!

Disaster!

Was riding down the M6 on friday and the drive shaft went. Managed to pick up a brilliant new one (the bike had only done 9000 miles so the splines were pristine) so he was fixed on saturday. On sunday me and blue eyes went out for a ride and i had just gone over the brow of a hill and a sheep ran out. I slammed the brakes on and stopped. Then blue eyes came over (he was on his 250) and took the arse out. Bikey hit a wall on the right hand side (on the crankshaft cover) and then went down on the left side. Mostly cosmetic damage (lower fairing on both sides, number plate and entire brake light unit) but also dented front rim and a worrying oil leak from crank shaft cover. Luckily we are both ok and i managed to ride bikey home but the 250 had to be recovered. Just so gutted about Bikey  any ideas on the oil leak?

Where does the oil appear to be coming from? Any cracks in the cover?
I had a mysterious 'oil' leak that used to come and go on my last K100RT. It looked like a little run of oil from just under the fairing side panel about halfway along the crankcase cover. Wiped it away and it was ok for a few more weeks.
Couldn't understand where it would come from.
It turned out to be a tiny pin hole starting in the base of the tank. By the time the petrol seeped through the heat insulation on the base of the tank and ran down to the top of the crankcase cover, it looked like oil and had lost its petrol smell.
It may just be a coincidence that you are noticing it after your accident.
You need to check the base of the tank for the heat insulation discolouring or breaking up.
If it is that, it will get worse.

Thats reallly interesting actually, after the accident there was a really strong fuel smell, it does look like its coming from the bottom of the crank cover but worth a try.

Out all together on Sunday again  off roading and everything!
