Hello All...

I just returned home yesterday after a five day romp, Texas style. Me and a buddy took our bikes down to Lajitas, Texas for the MSTA (Motorcycle Sport Touring Association) Ride the Rio gathering. Considering he rides a 2009 Yamaha FJR 1300, my 'ol '85 flying brick did pretty good.

Lajitas was originally a calvary post set about 200 yards off the Rio Grande (the border between Texas and Mexico) in the 1860's to thwart attacks by Pancho Villa, a notorious mexican bandit. I have a picture somewhere of my great grandfather astride a mexican horse in his calvary uniform. I believe he was stationed at Lajitas because his main occupation was attempting to catch Pancho Villa.

We stayed in Lajitas but the main attraction is Big Bend National Park about 15 miles north west, a desert mountain range in South Texas.

All in all I put 1500 miles on my bike in a five day period. It was a great ride but my '85 wasn't the oldest bike there. I was beat out by two '77 airheads! Go figure....

Enjoy the pics...
