Good day everyone!

I hope to start a new journey very soon. I will be a K100 owner very soon!  cheers
Its a 1992 that a friend purchased as he is just crazy about them.. Has 4 of em!!

He is running out of space so he is looking for a home for the newest member of his fleet. He has done all the necessary work on it...... and will be road testing it this week to make sure he is fully happy with it before handing it over!

Am super excited to move from my Honda NT400 to the K100. Looking forward to a few ride outs to get used to the power and weight! Glendalough ... here I come!!!!  Greetings from the Fair city of Dublin 723598

Welcome Curley,

You will be in the very best of Kompany on yon Emerald Isle. I wonder your "friend" is already an Irish Eccentric, if not he should be. Plenty of rides and meets on the calendar, check out the European rides section to catch up with what's going on in the near future. Very relaxed, very friendly and a source of invaluable information, advice and humour - and that's just the K100 forum in general. The Irish Eccentric clan is something else again and very welcoming.

Hope your new bike lives up to your expectations - and hope to see you out and about on my (now getting quite frequent) visits over there.

Welcome to the forum from........Cork.

Delighted to see you and you are in great company...

Look up Irish Eccentrics here and our exploits.

Quite a few forum members around Dublin and further afield and we do meet up from time to time.

My son's NT400 is sitting on my patio just now...........but he 'wouldn't be seen dead on one of those yokes'.

We were up Sally Gap on 21st....

Let us know when you are mobile and a coffee somewhere will be in order!!

Great to see another K owner from the Emerald Isle on the forum Curley. We have lots to see and do online and offline. Shout if you need help but Ringfad knows a huge amount about K bikes and I'm near Gorey if you're down for a spin in the Vales.

See you on the road!

It seems to go like this......

K bikes are bought by people who love bikes as opposed to trying to be seen to live the dream or being a wannabe a round the world rider....

Looking forward to seeing you.

Sounds rather nice but my memories of Glendalough on a bank holiday afternoon are from when I used to do it on a bicycle, ie before I was old enough for a motorbike. Excess traffic of the four wheel variety and Lycra clad Lance Armstrongs. But definitely a beautiful day for it.

Coincidentally I spent the afternoon sorting my son's NT400......no, not riding it as I have the battery out of it but it needed a few jobs done. Impressive machine in terms of pace on those roads except for the very small petrol tank. But you will be surprised how well the K100 likes those roads too.

Next time you're doing that run let me know. I'm a quick trot up the vales from Arklow. The best bit of it is from Larragh to Rathdrum (Vale of Clara) and you can break out to the N11 or continue on down the Vale of Avoca to Arrklow and loop back. Some of the nicest biking roads in the counrty. I was planning a wing and thinking of a pan europoean to get me back into bikes when I bought my K. A wing just isn't as versatile and a lifelong dream has paled to insignificance.

Will surely give you a ping once I have sorted things out. Will need lots of ride outs to get used to the weight and power of the K. If all goes well, i will be picking the lady up this weekend.  Greetings from the Fair city of Dublin 723598

If you're looking for good ways to waste time and petrol, check out this...
Irish Photo Rally
That's what took me to Donegal on a 295 MILE round trip.
Can be challenging and some of the points are hard to find but takes you to some interesting places and you generally get a chat with other like minded saddos.
There's a thread about it on the forum. Ignore the waffle.
There's those who do it and those who talk about doing it. Cool

If you are doing it then try for the Crosshaven one on Saturday 30th May.

TacKler is coming over from Australia on Tuesday 26th and staying Tuesday/Wednesday in Dublin then going down to stay with 88KE Thursday/Friday. Heading to Cork Saturday morning for ferry for a trip to France so we are planning lunch at about 1 pm on Saturday 30th. Cronin's at Crosshaven is about a mile from the photo point and an excellent outdoor area on the harbour. Anyone going via Gorey could meet up with TacKler on the way. Hoping to get a few Cork Ks along as well.

Will put up a separate thread soon.

Well he has it now, I brought it over last night and nothing fell off it Smile .

She did however leak a bit of oil.

It looks like it is coming from the speedo sensor so he will start like a proper K owner by getting his hands dirty.

Apart from that she was running very well and I hope he enjoys it.

She runs so smooth!!!! Took her for a lovely spin to get used to the power and weight. She is a dream to ride and easy to handle!

The leak seems to be from the rear shock! Any spares?  Laughing

That's a pity, Curley, but not the end of the world.
Your choices for a shock range from a second hand one from eBay to a Ram shock from Realm Engineering at £225. The Ram shock is specifically designed for K's.
Might be worth trying Motorworks or James Sherlock for a second hand one as they both break BMW's and you would have some come back if they're knackered.
Remember, you need the longer unit for the 16v paralever.
The 8v monolever it's a shorter unit and won't fit.

A second hand shock costs £140 and a new one from RAM is £225.

Is the new RAM worth the extra few £££? or am i best to go for the second hand one?

James Sherlock is listing a non original shock in very good condition for £179 on eBay.
It's hard to say what to do. It depends on how much you are prepared to spend. A difference of £45-85 doesn't sound too bad until you realise how much you spend in total.
Even an original in good condition will last for quite a few thousand miles. You have to make that call, Curley.
Just a thought.
If you start a new thread on the subject of a replacement shock, someone on the forum might have what you are after for the right price. It's always good to start a new thread for a new subject. More people will read it.
