Here's a topic for you. There was a nice discussion there:

I've just returned from Larnaca Smile

Back to bike..
Mine was not working for 8 years or so..
im waiting a fuel pump cause its missing..im going to replace the battery, change fuel and air filter and plugs.
I will check oil level, maybe i will not change it for now till bike start.advice.
Today i checked the coolant..the coolant tank was ok but i dont see water throught radiator cap..
Is that bad?

Emilios,
it might be a good idea to at least drain the 8-year old oil, perhaps un-spinning the oil filter and tipping its contents out too, since the oil is so very old and sludgy, then refill the sump with a detergent oil or inexpensive car oil, just for the initial start-up and check over.

I think you will find, cyber-wise, that you will meet a lot of like-minded fools here to talk BMW with.

emilios,
I would change all fluids as suggested by TWB. Also, dump the coolant, flush the system with water (pure stuff ideally) and refill with a good brand green coolant suitable for BMW cars made in the 1980s.

check houses for leaks etc.

You may have water/oil pump problems with seals because they may have degraded, so don't be surprised if you get a leak or two.

I would remove the pugs, check compression to start with (after you renew oil). It may save you diagnosis time if she won't start.

Above all, tell us how you get on. Good luck Smile
