Hello,

I am changing my RS bars for LT bars.

The problem I am having is that the throttle cable that I have is not the Chain type.

Original Part #32 72 2 310 498 9

The length that fits is a part # 32 73 1 457 378 but does not have the same end as mine.

It there a different part that matches the handle end?

My RS is a 90' has a shorter cable by 150mm.

I to was looking at changing to the LT bars for my RS, however, I went for the 'C' bars in the end and they have made a world of difference with riding position. the added bonus is I didn't need to change any cables/ electrics or lines, it was a simple swap over.

Might be worth a thought, especially when you start adding up the cost of cables, brake lines etc.

I had this done on my K 1100 RS. Don't remember there was the same problem with different cable ends. My suggestion would be that you contact Motorworks UK through their web site and consult with them - you can order the cable at the same time (new or used one)

Way more comfortable bike feels lighter and more flickable.

I'm glad you've found a comfortable riding position. Any chance of some pictures and a quick run through of what you had to do and what needed changing (Cables etc.) it'll add to the wealth of knowledge on here and I'd like to see how much difference here is between the C bars (which I swapped to) and the LT bars.

Here's an article about a swap from an RT/LT bar to a C-bar. Its photos attempt to show the difference. I did that swap on my naked moto without changing the brake line or throttle cable lengths. I swapped again from the C-bar to a Flanders sidecar bar; that swap required changing both to shorter units.

These photos were taken during a gnat swarm a couple of summers ago. The moto is on the center stand. There is no tension on the brake line during full extension of the fork.

RS to LT bars is the extreme shortest to longest of the stock handlebars.

In my case, I had all winter and a dealer down the street so only changed what was required after I had the LT bars on.

All the parts were attainable through my local dealer. Did not go with OEM brake line. I believe that I could have but bought Goodridge custom lines. I’ll change all the lines next winter (age).

All of the electrics were long enough, extra length was in the rats nest under the tank. Some require re routing for “just a little more”. The throttle as noted above is from the K1. My 90 K100RS is a 4V 

Additionally, mine is also ABS so the brake master line connects to a hardline under the tank. Mine ended up a bit to long but works fine.

I’ll take some pics today while avoiding contact with other humanoids.
