Yeah, OK, at the Jimboomba Shell just after 3PM. Be there or be square!

BTW, just rang the Aussie Hotel and there are still rooms left. I'm not bringing my panniers so I don't have to carry along any baggage!

We're in Esk at The Grand, which ain't empty, cold or bare (Deep Purple reference). Blakey had to peel off towards home but the rest of us are gathering round the watering hole after a beaut day of sunshine and fine roads, good company and decent grub. More later.

Well...that was a short weekend for me that I won't forget for a while.

Brilliant roads, excellent company (great to meet up with the old and the new Southerners) and fantastic weather.

Thanks to those that put this trip together, you deserve a pat on the back.

Stay safe all of you.

just saw the last of the southerners off from beaudesert ...heading towards home and New South Wales again

they should be climbing the hills of the border just about now .

brilliant weekend with great company, many stories of awe, friendships renewed and new ones made .

thanks to you all for attending , just seems our little worlds are a lot happier now .

cheers

It was sad to see Rick G and Marg head their way as the rest of us went our way this morning from Esk. After brekky 35 kms down the road in Fernvale, Charlie, me, RT, Alby & Nic, and of course, Ulrich, throttled up Mt Glorious to the rainforest 'bikie' cafe for a quick stop, a look at the variety of bikes, then off again we went down to Mt Nebo. Charlie, RT and Ulrich headed down further in to the city then on towards home in the south, while Alby, Nic and I swooped down into Samford for petrol, then over to Dayboro, up Mt Mee (with Western views from far inland over the Great Divide and East far out to sea!) and down the other side.

Next K-Trip - Page 4 Imag0215
The bikes out the front of the Australian Hotel, Boonah, Queensland.

Next K-Trip - Page 4 Imag0216
The Rainforest Cafe, atop Mt Glorious, Queensland.

It was an incredible weekend of laughs, excellent riding, decent food, stacks of empties, amazing scenery & roads, and good company. Friendships renewed, we are plotting and planning the next coupla Aussie gatherings. One idea is for a trip on the overnight ferry to Tasmania later in the year or early next, the other is for a stop at RT's in southern NSW for a combined tech day/weekend tour of the Southern Highlands/the Snowies later this year sometime.

All aboard!?

Yeah the beer was terrible but we did our duty and tried in vain to get rid of the evil brew, but alas once again we failed.

its a local car maufacturers colour .... what he said was "monaro yellow " (general motors-holden -vauxhall)

i believe vauxhall sell the "monaro" over there ...possibly rebadged with a different name ...i cant say if you guys get the same treatment over there but ask a "gm" retailer ?

maybe ulrick has more information ..but could be several days before he gets home

Charlie, picture you when you were running out of petrol, going up the hill. Alby thought you were having a fit, I thought you were going through some Queenslander form of ritual. You would shake yourself (maybe the bike!), than rattle about and finally roll a little further.

I took a mental pic as I raced up the hill behind you lot and saw you hanging off this side then that side as you rode along at the side of the road. I reckoned you were fighting the evil radial/bias pull again. From your moves it didn't dawn on me that making the fuel in the tank go up the right hose was what you were trying to accomplish!

This is how you can improve your fuel consumption figures on the way home. Five kms from Uralla on the New England Highway. All I can say is that having roadside assist is as important as having a mobile phone to ring them.
However the truck driver would not allow me to sit on the bike as it was driven on the highway. Now THAT would have been a good shot! Happened on a Sunday, sourced anew tyre from Tamworth (90kms) on Monday morning, home (460kms) that afternoon.

Some cars and utes are equipped to burn gas here, and the gubmint used to (maybe do still) give a rebate for converting four wheeled vehicles to run it as well as petrol, and most servos sell it at about half the price of petrol. But I've yet to see a motorbike burn it on a regular basis. Imagine the size and weight of the additional tank!

Blakey, in NSW it is called NRMA, which has reciprocal rights in all states. Yours would be RACQ. They charge the same for car, ute etc., and have about three different levels of cost and service. One service includes a hire car and motels as well.

Charlie delivered Bob and I to Beaudesert, where we parted ways. Went down the Mt Lindsey Hwy, rather than the Lions road. Great ride!!
Overnighted at the Exchange in Kyogle, on the recommendation of the bloke on the Norton. Great pub!! Then to Casino, turned right onto the Bruxner, up to Tenterfield, down to Glen Innes, left down the Gwydir to Grafton and overnighted at the Star, on the river at Macksville. Great pub!! Then down the Pacific to Wauhope, up the Oxley (BEST RIDE!!!) to Walcha, where we met a heap of BMW riders on a 5 day rally to Maroochydoor. Saw a couple of K1600s! Then onto Tamworth, down the New England to Muswellbrook, last night away. Copious amounts of lager were consumed.
Got home at about 09:30 this morning.
Thanks for the trip, you blokes!! Chomping at the bit to do it all again! Bring it on!!

Rickmeister von Grabenhausen.

Bit of bad luck ainsjac..That is why I also have RACQ ultra care. Same national cover as NRMA. I nominate one vehicle and they will go to its aide no matter who is driving it and anything else I am riding or driving they will come to me. Small peace of mind!!!

Glad you home in the end.

That road from Wauchope to Walcha is a beauty at the moment. Really well surfaced and fun even on the outfit! Once did a very similar ride on my old 850 Interstate...across and back on the Glen-Grafton rd, then down and across to Walcha then back to Bendemeer and home to Sydney via the Putty rd. Some of the best fun you can have with your kit on!

Funny, the thick, dark-haired bloke on the big yellow GS Adventure was my ex-boss. That was the BMW Safari which is done twice a year, one on the dirt and one on the road. The road event this year was Bathurst to the Sunshine Coast (Maroochydore).

I'm glad you had a good ride, and a rather circuitous route too, but that's the way we like it. Der Weg ist das Ziel! (The way is the goal)

Well the last straggler made it home 2 pm Wednesday. Thankfully the Putty road was only a bit damp on dark corners, the day before was black iced up. Smooth trip home so very pleased with the old girl.
Thanks to Ulrich who was able to source a spare rear shcok for me on day one, otherwise I'd be reading this and being depressed, instead of exhausted.
Great trip everyone, tks for the hospitality, look forward to hosting a fix it day down here when the ice is gone.
Cheers.

It's taken time but finally got my camera sorted.
The moment when things didn't look so good on day one, 350 klm from home.
Next K-Trip - Page 4 P1010018
And now the exact moment, no kidding, that Saint Ulrich von Grabau called my mobile to let me know he was on the way with a spare.

And the rest was history.

The smiling face of St. Ulrich set against the serious backdrop of a Charlie point- making pose.
Seems like so long ago already.
