Anybody tried these? The odometers on both my K100 and R100GS are stuffed and I'm looking for a cheap fix.

I got a set for my early K100 from this bloke. He is based in the South of Sydney and sells a range of odo gears. They were $25 ea and i needed all 4 I think....

 That's who I used - good service. I got him to repair the odometer.

The small "driver" gear you can get in a pack of gears from Jaycar for about $8 whereas you will be charged $25 for it plus delivery. The other gears you will have to get from him.

I looked at getting a set of gears from the US via Floyds link, but I balked at the cost of $150+ to Aus and decided I didnt really need to know the odo reading THAT much. Maybe the bloke in Sydney is the go.

Yes, he must get them cheaper than I could direct. Postage was USD35 which I thought was too much for some little tiny plastic gears.

yeah its a pity that usa charge a premium for putting absolutely anything in the post to anywhere outside  of us ...are they scared or something ? or just cant be bothered to have a pickup service that does a service ...like bringing the correct declaration form ...sheesh, bet you is a downloadable declaration at that, from what I have seen ...or is it just the bother of putting pen on paper and being required to think ...!

crikey we send over a hundred k of our stuff international ....every couple of months ... and don't have the same issues , and more paperwork is required indeed ...but no where near the same postal charges rate . shoot id start a new business if I could get what they are asking . us $35 for a $5 post bag ???

I dismantled my instruments on the weekend. All the gears on the odo are shot. They literally crumble when I touch them. I think I'll contact the bloke in Sydney and find out a cost if I send the speedo to him to fit new gears.


EDIT: Emailed Richard. $100 for 2 gears + $25 for each extra. I'm going to post it down to him for repair. Save a lot of stuffing around.

Can you provide some clarity? I also need to replace a small gear in the cluster (based on previous owners advice. I have not looked yet) and you mentioned this: http://www.jaycar.us/search?text=Gear  Is the heat set shown the one to order??

OK...if you type in "gear set and spur gear set" you will get a photo of the set. The smallest single gear will replace the similar one in your instruments  and cheaper. The rest of the gears cannot be used as replacements.

Got it! If it is only the smallest one I need, it'll only cost me a few bucks.
