Hi, Ive been having a great trouble free riding season. but I think I need to replace my throttle cable . The bike is 87 k100 rt and the present cable seems to be the old type with the adjuster about a foot down, what should I ask for when I order a new one? Ive read about recall ect will I need to change any parts on the throttle bodies?
Thanks
Brian

Ask for this part number for a 1987 USA model K100RT: 32 73 1 457 378. It's
1142mm in length and about US$31.00 at your favourite dealer.

Show this picture to the parts person if he or she doesn't know what additional might be needed. Here's a link:

I believe the fitting on the handlebar is also different as it has a threaded connection on the cam housing?

Thanks, I ordered the cable, the bike is 86 not 87, but need the update kit just the same , The other thing I was wondering about was the over flow tank, it never seems to change level or temp. the bike never seems to over heat and the fan comes on in stop and go traffic, but if you check the temp. in the tank it is never hot, could the radiator cap be bad?
Thanks
Brian

Brian, you might want to start a new thread on the coolant issue.

New throttle cable installed, works nice, the old one was sticky, so when you tried to slow down, particularly at slower speeds, there was a lag between twisting the throttle back, and the throttle bodies dropping, so the bike would lurch as it slowed , annoying, worse with passenger, all better now.

Thanks
Brian

Well done Brian!
Last point when installing new clutch cables/throttle cables it is best to install the new one whilst the old one is still there that way any intricacies of routing to get correct operation will be followed. Once in place and working take the old one out.

You also installed the cable 'tensioner' part at the grip?

Right, the cable came from Bobs BMW with a new plate at the throttle bodies and adjuster at the throttle grip.
Thanks for the help.
