I have reached the time (80 000 mls) where one or more bulbs on the right hand side of the instrument panel has stopped working. I have got a new set of 5 (green) bulbs, removed the windscreen in order to loosen the instrument panel, just to find out that it is very little room back there, and that the instrument panel is fastened with hex bolts, which wil take forever to unscrew and put back with my kind of tool.

- Do I have to remove the front panel with the headlight to do this job?
- Do I have to remove the +side of the battery when working on the instrument panel?
- It does not seem possible to remove the two connectors before the panel is loose. Is this corretct? I have understood that the connectors are covered with a lid with one bolt. Can I do this aafter the instrument panel i loosened?

Regards, Sigurd

On my K75RT I can remove the instrument cluster by reaching up from below.  You might have to remove the X-shaped piece under the fairing to make it easier to reach up there.  A set of long ball-end Allen wrenches will make the job a lot easier.

On my K100RT I removed it by removing the screen and the two allen bolts under the front of the ignition pad. This gave me access from the front of the bike and I was able to get unbolt its mounting plate rather than taking the panel off the mounting plate so it came up as an assembly, enough to unbolt the cable holding in screws and lift it clear. Problem is if you were to drop it.....
