Is there any advantage or disadvantage  to mounting a 130 /80 /17 on the rear of a K100rs as opposed to mounting a 130/90/17 on it ?

If you're comparing bias-belted tires, an 80 on the rear will stiffen the ride.

Well, that is ok. You see,I run Avons and I can't get the 90 right now because of this damn covid crap. All the online tire places are sold out.I want to keep a matched set on the bike so I can get the 80 and do that. The front tire is still really good .They are a year and a couple months old so I only need a rear.I can live with a stiff ride .

I took to 140/70/17 and very happy using that size, Battlax BT45.

On my K1100LT I have 160/60/18 on the RS wheel and also 140/70/17 on the LT wheel and find the turn in much better on the 140/70/17 LT set up.

Going from a 90 series to an 80 series will affect gearing and your speedo. Smaller overall diameter. Other than that as long as they will both fit on the same rim dimensions it will work. Not sure if the smaller diameter would cause you any clearance issues on the bike.

Having run 130 and 140 profiles in 70 and 80 on my K100RT over 53,000 miles to be honest you are not going to notice the difference very much. The 70 does have a slightly lower speed rating in BT45 and not sure about the Avons but both are good for the K bikes.

A couple of other areas that it likely will impact is seat height and the effort required to get the bike on the center stand.

13mm lower at the axle should make about 9mm lower seat. A pocket full of small change would make that much difference.  Very Happy
