I'm going, to be honest, I’m much more of a car guy than motorcycles. I have dirt bikes and a 2007 BMW GS1200. I’m sure I’m like most people here and I spend way too much time on CL and FB marketplace. I was on vacation in Eureka CA for spring break with way too much time on my hands. I see this 89 BMW K100rs for only $2800, I thought it must be a POS. I show up to look at it and I couldn’t believe how beautiful it was and all original. I had no intention of buying this thing. I live 245 miles south and I had no way of getting it home. The long and short the seller was a great motorcycle guy and he had three other bikes in his garage. He loves bikes and just wasn’t riding this one. We shook hands at $2300 and I had to come back and get it.  So almost two weeks later I found a ride up north and rode this bad boy home. Let’s just say I didn’t take the highway.  I added 30 extra miles to my 277-mile ride home. I just love this thing. I have found a reason to ride it every day. I’m a big fan of forums and I plan on using this form to help better my experience. I’m going to be taking it to the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride in LA next month. Thanks for letting me be a part of your group.

What do people do about mounting a phone or GPS to these bikes?

Another place to mount a phone on an RS is on the left knee panel. That's where I mounted my GPS back in the dark ages before GPS units had touch screens.

You can add the 4V RS mirror extenders to a 2V. But I wouldn't do it if I lived in CA and lanesplit a lot.

The 88 & 89 SE is a beautiful paint scheme. I have an 88 in my stable of 5 K bikes - and now that my son has decided to stop riding (he says flying is enough risk for him) I'm facing the real prospect of selling 2 of them. If anyone lives near Southeast Wisconsin and wants a very nice low milage 1988 SE (at a what will be a very good price to someone here) - send me a message before I change my mind.  Smile
