I am converting my R90/6 hack to a mono setup using a modified K100 swingarm/driveshaft and final drive. I need to figure out a shock solution. I know I will have to fabricate an upper shock mount. I am wondering what to use for a shock. Could it be as simple as putting a heavier spring on a stock rear shock? Suggestions?

So, I have received a pair of sidecar shocks from an R1150 hack from a friend. They are R1150 shocks revalved and sprung by Lindemann Eng. for sidecar use. The R1150 uses a linkage shock. The spring on the rear shock is 1100 lbs. Using a little math and the dimensions of the R1150 swingarm (s.a. pivot to shock mount, s.a. pivot to rear axle) and the K100 dimension (s.a. pivot to rear axle), the equivalent shock for the K100 swingarm works out to exactly 500 lbs. I am using the K100 swingarm on an R90/6, so my rig is probably a little lighter than the R1150 rig, so I figure a spring rate of 450 lbs would be about right, mounted on a 14" double adjustable coilover (Qa1 or other brand). Hannigan used that coilover on their HPS rigs. They wouldn't give out shock specs. I figure my numbers are a good enough starting point. Springs are cheap.
As an aside, I have no use for the Lindemann shocks. If anyone could use them or knows someone who could use them, let me know.
