Hello, Hope all are well! Snapped a clutch cable yesterday on my 85 K100rs. Trying to figure out which cable to order. Was looking at EME and they were talking about the bars being high or low bars. I think these are low bars on my rs. (If not would hate to ride low bars) Just want to make sure to get the correct cable.

Thanks
Bill

On their website the cable and sheath length are listed. One could measure the old cable (or sheath) as a reference to be certain.

2 cents: Buy 2 and install both as I learned the cold hard way. Last time mine snapped I was in the French Alps on a pitch  black night and very cold outside. Installing a new one was not on my bucket list.

The hardcore guys tape the new one next to the old one, and just swap them over when the old one fails. Always impressed me that  Surprised.

The length discrepancy of EME's offerings compared with Max's is baffling to me.

One last thing: make sure you have the small felt piece that sits on the end of the cable next to the handlebar lever pivot and keep it greased.

Minor correction Olaf: it's the barrel that doesn't come with the cable. Damn stupid idea that was.

I'd call it the pressed wool cable lubrication retaining device v1.0.

This is what MaxBMW calls it.

No. The wee b'stard is 8mm and peculiar to BMW. You may have to pay out at MaxBMW for one. Or two. Best get two because if you only get one it will feel unloved and at the first opportunity it gets, it will go and hide in the deepest darkest part of the garage where you can't find it.

Is this part at Max what's being discussed here, or have I entered another phase of disorientation?

Decision-making is tough, huh? Laughing  I tend to believe what I read at Max because I have no imagination. Sad

If by this time you don't have vernier calipers to measure the barrel/nipple holder, or to measure the barrel opening in the clutch hand lever, to decide which measurement will provide a secure fit neither binding nor disengaging, you're consigned to making a decision based on the number of confirming references for one measurement or the other—a strategy which I have occasionally needed to deploy and has been successful, so far. Laughing

In a life filled with consequential decisions, this one is a small potato if you have patience and reliable parcel delivery service in your area. Smile

Agreed on the small potatoes. I believe it is a 10 as I early on had the cable bail
(Fell out of the lever) on me. It looked like the nipple was to small for the hole. Just realized I have another lever that I can measure. Never mind. Embarassed
