Where you now have connected the pressure regulator is the gas return
from the oil separator in the crank vent system on the 4V's....just blind it.

Inge - I feel really stupid now, particularly as the 1990's Yamaha 650 and 750s ran a system called YICS which joined the intakes together to smooth out incoming pulses. It was also a trick we did on 650 and 750 twin-carb BSAs and Triumphs, so I have no excuse for missing that at all.

Edited to remove that Embarassed
While researching how to connect K1100 TBs to a K75 engine, I found reference to a suggestion which is very much like the YICS you referred (see post #61 in this thread).  The suggestion was to join all the vacuum intakes together using rubber hosing and connect that assembly to the pressure regulator.  The reasoning was precisely what YICS did -- smooth out the pulses.  This suggestion has had polarized reaction from the K-community; some like the idea and other think it's full of baloney.  I mocked up a piping system to try it out and later abandoned it.  I've never tried.

Considering that YICS made its appearance for a very short while and then was abandoned suggests that the baloney faction may well be right. In the 90s anything that could put one Japanese manufacturer ahead of the others in the horsepower race was tried and thrown if it failed.

Dai, those are some serious lights on your RS! In OZ you could go 'roo huntin' with 'em. But in OZ it's best to stay in at night, not be out on the open road with all those furry grasshoppers flyin' about! What have you in County Down that leaps out in front of you under cover of darkness besides errant car drivers or the occasional bright young thing chunderin' in the gutter from a stomach full of too much Guinness?

I heard about the wombat problem from a couple of friends who emigrated to Oz - do NOT ride at dusk!

I clock a minimum of 6000 miles a year at night and mostly across country (daily commute), so good light is a must. I get about a quarter-mile clear visibility with that lot, plus the advantage that any oncoming car driver who doesn't dip gets an unpleasant surprise. LFB is running a 60-amp alternator, so no power problem (hmm - must do a write-up on that. The mod from 50-amp to 60-amp is a pretty simple one).

I've often felt like I was moving along with a herd of turtles during Brisbane's peak hour. In Seattle they just run you down blind with their head pushed so far in it's almost up their arse...flyin' high on Starbux, txting and cell phone talking. One of them was reading the newspaper on his steering wheel the other morning. I blasted him with my dual-tone hours as he wandered into my lane. The scattering of pages as he over-corrected was all I saw as I gunned the loud pipe next to the driver's door, and was gone...

Just to add to what others have said... the conversion was worth it. At about 4200rpm the engine switches into startled wombat mode.

Hello all,

My k1100rs don’t have tube n #8 (I don’t know yet why the old owner take it of). Could you explain (with some pic if it’s possible) where is the right place to connect it (another side of course)?
caferacer62 wrote:I found this pic, don't know if it helps.

Pretty sure Guest in the house used the k100 reg, i think from looking at the pic that the 1100 has one outlet to the reg. I thought that Guest said that they had a different setup to the K100. Guest could probably steer you in the right direction on this.

#8 connects from top barb of fuel pressure regulator to fuel tank return tubing/stub the forward most tubing stub on left tank side
The old owner probably take it off and didn't replace hose because it cost $51USD

On my bike, tube #6 is plugged in left tank side, it's probably wrong, so what's the correct connection for #6?  Thanks in advance for your help.

#6 fits on to the down pointing barb at end of the fuel rail and goes to the middle barb on the fuel pressure regulator
Old owner bypassed the fuel pressure reg
