Well i got my first BMW on saturday. 91 K100LT, its great i must say, after years of riding sports bikes and more recently cruisers. Now i know why K100 riders always looked so smug when i was out riding, damn things are cumfy to ride. This looks like a nice friendly forum so i thought i'd join.

Anyway cheers

I'm already looking on TWB's wheels with great envy, i cant leave stuff alone for too long.

Thanks guys for the warm welcome, this must be the most polite forum i have been on, makes a pleasent change.

Is there anything in particular that i should look out for on the K?

Bert

Dear Bert 2.0,

The usual fluid changes to establish a base line.

Keep an eye on the rubber bits for perishing.

If you want parts urgent detergent, then use Munich Motorcycles in Perth...coupla days wait.

Not so urgent? Motobins, Sherlocks or Motoworks (I think it's called that...brain fade sorry) in the UK...coupla weeks wait and cheaper than Munich Motorcycles.

Apply DeoxIT (thank goodness you spelt it correctly) to every electrical connector on your bike, bulb bases included.

Others will chime in.

Hi Bert 2.0. Get yourself a cheap multi meter and put it in your tool box so someone can show you haw to use it when you join up. Apparently it's easy peasy. (tks Charlie).
I bought a pack of that electrical cleaner that shall not be named, and it came with a container of "Gold" cleaner, no idea what it is for, but everyone seems to say I've wasted my money on that 2 pack, try and get one that is bigger. Got it from Jaycar.
Welcome to the spelling bee.

Welcome aboard caferacer62, the best version of DeoxIT from Jaycar is the two bottles like nail polish bottles. The red stuff is for cleaning up when the connector is old or tarnished then after removing that the gold is to slightly clean and to really keep in good condition. They also make a product called Shield but Jaycar don't sell that.
Regards,
K-BIKE
