This weekend I'll be camping with the BMW (UK) club at Tiverton rugby club.
I thought it could be an opportunity to meet with any forum members in the area, so, at the suggestion of Krambo, I intend to be at

Zuki's Cafe at Winkleigh (EX19 8EY), around midday on Saturday 7th July.

Nothing planned, just a meet to chat about K's, life, the universe and everything. I wonder if the answer will still be 42.

Paul.

Well what a pleasant weekend.
I looked at all the forecasts and chose the best one, but they were all sort of wet! South West UK meet 178468
The chosen one gave a dry 4 or 5 hour slot in Tiverton for Friday afternoon, so I aimed to arrive by 1pm. Gave the bike a good 'power wash' for some 50 miles or so, but found some dry roads south of Bristol and eventually got the tent up in the dry.
As predicted, at 6pm it started...... RED alerts for the south west......3" of heavy rain. Ah well, not to worry, modern tents are pretty good.

Saturday morning and it's still pouring South West UK meet 178468 (dry in my tent though).......Yes, I said I would be at Zuki's at midday, so it was on with the full wets and off to Winkleigh, not really expecting anyone else to turn up.

South West UK meet Ssl10932

The first obstacle was that the road to Crediton was closed, the river Exe was well above it's normal levels.
No probs, head for Exeter and up the 377.
By the time I got to the cafe, it had stopped raining,so I sat out side and had a coffee.

They get everywhere don't they?

South West UK meet Ssl10934

Still on my own, not suprisingly, I had a tasty cheese and tomato omelette for lunch and by 2pm I felt that no one else would get there so I headed back to Tiverton.

Sometimes it doesn't matter what the weather does, when you are with a group of like-minded motorcyclists, you just get on with it and enjoy yourself, so the rally was good with a more or less dry ride home.

Maybe the next proposed meet should be in winter.......the weather could be better.

Cheers,
Paul.

Really sorry not to get to meet up with you yesterday Paul - I ended up having to work most of the day. I hope you enjoyed your weekend despite the unusual weather problems etc. Maybe if I have a little more notice and the weather behaves for once, we will get to meet up at some point Wink

I know it's a green and pleasant land for a reason, but that's ridiculous! Looks like a thaw from the top of the alps. Is anyone blaming the upcoming olympics? Nice pic of the outfit. Would like to see more.
Sean.

Hi Sean,
What we need is one of caferacer62's modified silencers pointed northwards, to set up a pressure wave.........
by the time it reaches us it should be powerful enough to push the Jet Stream some 500 miles further north and give us a summer South West UK meet 112350

Paul.

You're a braver man than me heading out in that deluge to camp Paul. Have you a folding paddle in the chair in case you need to detach it and use it as a boat? Laughing
