Yeah, Halo I've been drooling over that bit for some time know.

My big 3 shop list would read:

1) New much larger ultrasonic cleaner, (possibly DIY if I can get a clue)
2) Powder coating kit and a large used kitchen oven for the cooking
3) A proper lift table w/ pass thru

Wow, Halo I'm surprised to hear that and not brilliant on their part in today's global economy. Let me know if there is anything you want me to pass along for you? Thanks Paul. At the sale price it was actually less than what the machine shop wanted to pull the bearings.

Here you can get a close to similar one in UK.........to a quite different price.

BTW. Got the set AK 716....seems to be reasonable quality....nothing deformed, broken or thrown out through the window so far.

Talked with some Honda V65 Sabre guys this past weekend who are running the Avon radials on their bikes and just luving them! They are using the same size we use for our +1 tire upgrade and I'm thinking very seriously about doing this as there simply isn't going to be money in the budget to send the rear to Kosman this summer...

Yeah, mate they were using the Avon radials in our sizes on the old Hondas. 110/80/18 & 140/80/17. Ultra storm 2 in the front and Azaro St in the back. The Azaro is made off the old ultra storm mold and Avon said it was fine running the two different models. So we can actually run radials on our stock rim sizes. Very Happy Really made a BIG difference on the Honda Sabers.

Got them from Motobins mate, Ill have to check the price again, with a few other items. Cheaper than here in the US, but by no means inexpensive. Could not find a bearing supply in town or online that could provide the odd sizing that BMW specs for these and didn't want to go down the road of making spacers and using another size as others have done. Hopefully, it will be the last time I have to replace them...

I got this direct from the motobrick site and haven't followed the link so the usual disclaimer applies
It
seems NTN or SNR (or other) 32203 bearings will be a direct replacement for the
swingarm bearings on our bricks. 17x17.25x40. The width on these is measured
differently on different sites, but it is an exact match for what we need.
These bearings seem to be hard to find, but I managed to find some SNR brand
bearings from www.motionindustries.com.
They are apparently a super heavy duty series that usually doesn't start that
small.

The guy that posted it is usually reliable

FYI for anyone who has to do the bearings in the swing arm. The little tin caps do not come with the new bearings and are NLA so don't destroy them when removing the old bearings if you can help it...

Ended up using the Extreme fluro grease on the clutch arm bearings and with the new mud flap I decided not to add an external grease fitting so we shall see how it goes. Paul did the "ultimate" upgrade on this bit for those who don't ever want to worry about it again.

No worries 88. Just wanted to let folks know as the machine shop simply destroyed one of mine and I was non to happy about it when I picked up the swing arm!!

Ending up cutting out a small piece of Dyno-mat to replace the one destroyed cap, and just like the FD I heated up the end of the swing arm to about 60 C and used the old bearing cage as a drift and she popped in straight away.

Yep, in theory mate you're right. Reality lately has me working silly hours and this is the first time I've been out in the garage in I don't know how long so I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed and try to carve out a bit more time if I'm able...

Phew OG,
I don't envy you guys who haven't retired yet. I wouldn't find the time to go to work these days.
Anyway, the work you are doing is top quality with everything sooooo clean. I wish........but then again, when they are used they get grubby.
Keep it up,
Cheers,
Paul.

Superb work as usual OG, it's a real pleasure/inspirational/learning experience from all you 'full on' restorers. Please keep the reports coming, Gordon

OK folks I fired up the shop lights late this evening and took some expresso! Time to get her done for now!! Finished the rear and was surprised how easy the bearing swap was with a little assist from the butane torch. Also, got my calipers reloaded, rebuilt the master yet again and fingers crossed. So just a little wiring, a couple more seals, and swap in the 94 front fork and she should be road worthy again.
