Hi everyone,

I've just bought an 85 model K100RT. It's my second BMW (first was a 2005 F650GS Dakar). I might get hassled a bit for this but I'm planning on stripping it down and doing a custom build of it (something like the bike below) so will probably need a bit of the expertise from this forum. On the plus side, once I get working on it I'll be able to help others with their problems.

Anyway, I've already had a fantastic response from my first post so I'm sure I'm going to enjoy my time on here.

Cheers,
delToro

Hi delToro,
I won't hassle you, but I'll stick to my almost standard bike.
Looking at lots of pictures, the Ks seem to resist a lot of customising efforts with many of them ending up at the rat bike end of the spectrum. But this one is one of the better ones.
Some of the custom building owners do post on here and you have probably also seen this thread.
Many customs amongst the standards.

Enjoy the project.
Cheers,

Hiya Del Toro....Looking forward to seeing what ideas you come up with...you will find folk will be interested to see how you travel and give advice at every turn.

The K is a very robust piece of gear and lends well to customising and since its been around for nearly 30 years (hint hint) there is not much that has not been tried....go on consider that a challenge.

Anyhow learn how to get pictures on here and look forward to seeing them..

What a Face

I love what was done to the foot peg plates. Wish I could see the other side to see the exhaust mount.
