Hi all, very new to the forum and K bikes.

I have an idea for a project that would use the K100 or K1200 engine in a rear engined car. I was wondering what direction the engine rotates.

Specifically, if the gearbox is removed and you're looking at the flywheel/clutch disc (from the back of the bike) what direction does it rotate when the bike is running?

Many thanks

Wouldn't a Smart car engine have all the ticks in the box for that idea? As it would even have a gearbox attached as well...

I have thought about building a trike with a Smart car back end... pick them up cheap on ebay...

I will leave one of the sensible one's to answer the question about the direction! It's been a while since I had my back end apart.....

The clutch rotates counterclockwise, viewed from the rear.

Many thanks to both of you for your replies. I had thought about the Smart Engine initially (thats what got me into thinking about all this...) but the engine is too tall.

The advantage of the K is keeping all the weight lowdown.

Talking of which, does anyone know the weight of a K100 engine? With or without gearbox.

Thanks.

It is said in the internet that K100 2V engine weights with the gearbox about 100kg, so I'd guess (removed gearbox from my K100 once) that the engine itself is about 90kg.
