My name is Dan and I am from Walker County. I know, how clever. I recently acquired a 1985 K100RT. Put new tires, fluids, and a tune-up on it, cut down the windshield, and its ready to go. This is my second BMW. I used an old R model a long time ago. My other bikes are Moto Guzzis, Bultacos and Benellis.

Hello,
My name is Mark. I, also recently purchased a 1985 K100RT. I replaced the tires, cleaned up the electrical system. Used the forums method to clean the ignition switch (but modified it so I did not have to remove the switch, unplug it or remove the tank). Replaced the vacuum hoses. Added safety wires to the mirrors. Cleaned the starter. etc. I wish I could have traded Dan windshields because mine is just a little too short.
I also found that I could make a replacement key out of a standard: ilko 1528R or a Hillman CP-10 key blank. They both work perfect for me but the key maker has to be a little creative.
