hi all....recently bought an almost mint 86 k100rt.
done about 300 miles on it so far and am well impressed with its handling.
just goes where you look....
its got 74000 not ex police and been really well looked after...
the only thing im not sure about is at 70/80mph it seems a bit high revving but im used
to v twins so ill get used to it....
I bought it to do longer distances/touring next summer and for my 50mile round trip too work.
I normally use my car when it starts too get colder but this year intend to use this bike as it really keeps the legs and hands warm
anyway hi too all and im in Milton Keynes if theres any other members close would be good too meet up
cheers
george

Welcome George.  I think you'll find that the K is precisely the sort of bike you need if you wish to extend your riding into the colder weather.  It has been a bit warm behind the fairing this summer to say the least, but with the chillier Autumnal mornings we are moving towards payback time.

The revs at cruising speed may be a bit noticeable, especially if you are used to thudding V twins.  Most K100s are at their worst vibration period at that speed, but I have found that it is an odd type of vibration; on my bike it is noticeable, but even after a very long day in the saddle it does not numb my hands, or backside.  That means for me that it is something I can tolerate.

You could fit the rear gearing from an RS, which is slightly taller; that would raise the threshold speed for the start of the vibe period and reduce the revs at any particular speed.

Happy and safe riding on your K.

Hi George

I picked up a K100 a couple of months go and have put on something like 5000 miles riding to work (70 miles round trip) in that time.   Bugger I'd better finish the sevice I started back then!

I'm in Stevenage but often go up to MK.

Could have done with you 2 weekends ago, I broke down going to the MotoGP at Silverstone. We spent 5 hours waiting buy a roundabout!

I also find the bike high revving as I've been tootling around on a 350 Enfield for a couple of years, firing every lamp post and all that.

You'll enjoy the brick for sure...
