I,m Ralph and I live in Nottingham,UK.

I,ve ridden BMW bikes before,mainly a R65 and an R80 that I used as courier bikes in the early 90s.

I stopped riding in 1994 after all the kids had arrived and went over to cars.
But a period of unemployment meant I could,nt afford a car but a cheap bike was an option.

Now I,m back in employment and have bought a rather down at heel K100RS.
This was the pin up bike of my late teens and now I,ve finally got one.
But I despute the 30k claimed mileage.This thing has done double that...for sure.
Either that or its spent ten years living in the sea!!

I,m about 70% done with making it a very useable bike again.All the plastics have gone to paint and the seat is off to RK Leightons in Birmingham,early next week.So,watch this space,I,ll pop a few pics up once its all back together.

Welcome to the forum! Sounds good, mines is a project too, but hes done 117000 miles atleast (speedo not working at the moment so probably add 2 or 3 thousand miles) lovely country around Nottingham, used to live in Derby and loved going to Matlock Bath and Bakewell.

A ride up the A6 from Derby is a must do for anyone coming thru the East Midlands.
Just turn left at Junc 26,M1

Welcome to the forum and good luck with the RS. You will enjoy it.

If you feel tempted to cross the Irish Sea do come visit! A few brave souls have done it and enjoyed it very much. You should do it in september as we may have a few other forum members over for our Northern Ireland trip. Camping or there is excellent B&B available. Just a little incentive to get your project finished. Great ferry service into Bublin or Belfast. Motorway or dual carriageway right into Holyhead and 2 hours from Dublin to our meeting point. Check out Becky and Paul Lipscomb here!!

Welcome Ralph from another east Midlander ( J28).
Anyone who buys a brick, in whichever guise , takes on a long term project . I find my current and previous LT , sometimes exciting, sometimes bland, certainly reliable, extremely comfortable and  designed for longevity, but most of all, there is something endearing about her. 
I agree with Becky about  Derbyshire, there are some wonderful roads around Bakewell and Buxton and the Snake pass.

Well,my bike is only having a cosmetic resto and anything for the MOT.
If I,ve got time(more in a second) I,m going to locate some 16v panniers and have them sprayed to match my colour.

My main aim with this bike was to have a back up to my workhorse Yamaha,so I can get to work.

But I,m planning on running the bike,once legal,down to Hastings,on the UK south coast to see my Dad and thank him personally for the money he sent me for some home imporovements and see some of my old chums down there.
If,after that,I,ve got some time/leave,I,ll be taking a run up thru the Peak District,making my target,the town of Hadfield,High Peak.

You might remember Hadfield was the setting for "The League of Gentlemen" fictional village of Royston Vasey.

I,ll see if I can buy a "You,ll never leave" sticker for the panniers

Before I ripped the bike to pieces,the engine ran nicely,if rather low on tick over but I,ve changed the air filter,plugs and evicted an ants nest from the airbox!!
Aside from a full service,replace rear tyre and MOT,this one should see me thru the remainder of the summer before I lay it up with poosible full resto,if finances allow.
