I found this part in my 'bits I should know where they go it is so obvious I don't need to label them' box
I should have labelled it. No idea what it is or even if it is for the bike.
Any guesses?

I think it is part of the Fino family....Buggeredi or Stuffdi or it could be that sister, can't remember her name...starts with F.

it looks to me like the rear axle spacer/indicator off a chain drive bike.

If the bolt hole suits an 8mm bolt, then it is from the headlight adjuster for a naked K(round headlamp)

That explains why I have never seen one, I've never had that apart.

Rossco, how long did you study the patrs list to find that ?. And I'm waiting for your explanation as to how oil gets way up the front there.
Cheers mate, Bargo pie shop coming up soon by the look of this weather.

Ungaas said what it was from and the previous bike was a naked K.
And I have honed my skills in searching realoem so I can get in before Inge.
The reason I did not recognise it was the headlight surround and mounting came off the bike in a box so I never actually removed the part myself.
If you had seen the condition of the bike when I got it you would understand why/how it has oil on it.

Bargo pie shop does sound excellent. My next trip there will be riding, not driving Smile

Unfortunately the back of the bike is off and waiting for parts.
Going to pull the clutch off again and re-fit it.
I was not happy when I put it back on and now have to wait for the bolts to arrive.

How do I stop the motor turning while doing up the clutch bolts?

rossco

There are several places you can jam a block of wood to stop it turning but it can be very painful if you get a splinter.

You don`t need much effort, everybody I know always says that I must be the slowest person on earth.

Use the fiches on MaxBmw instead, much easier.

Good luck with clutch!

If you want some hex head bolts go to REPCO, they have some 7mm thread bolts on the "champion" stand with a selection of bolts 7mm x 35mm or 7mm x 50mm and cut them down and that way you don't strip the head out.

Rossco. Are these parts needed by yourself as I have one missing from my 85 K75c I did not recognise them until they were put into context but now it it all becomes clear. I would be happy to buy one or both if you dont want them if they are surplus to requirements,

Regards Dennis.

Thanks Rick,
Question is do I still torque these up the same? I am guessing they are not stretch bolts?
Or do I just tighten the crap out of them and be happy with that?

Reason I ask is I had all kinds of dramas putting the clutch back on. The engine was sitting on the floor (it is in the frame now) and it was rolling round and pistons going up and down.
I never got the correct torque setting on any of the bolts.
I am hoping this is the source of my 2800rpm vibration.

cheers
rossco

I just pull them up till my elbow goes click and use some locktite thread lock. To get them out a bit of heat from a butane torch and they come easily.
