Has any one heard of a method etc for decreasing the mass of the clutch carrier etc so it spins up faster ?

get rid of the counter (main output drive) shaft cushoning absorber halo ...that would be a great start but there are consequences for that ...all in a minds eye

i think there were some folks here in queensland that made some seriously fast k bikes with the technology that existed back in the early 90s ......chris from the "bm shop" knows the names and speaks of some amazing stuff that locals did .. and how no one could catch them ...

surely with the stuff now available .coil over plug tops advanced micros and superiour output ignition drivers ..it would make the whole procees easier ?

Personaly I would not touch it. It's injection moulded but if it was billet from drawn alloy stock might be a different matter.
The clutch is the weak point in the drive train and if you want to give it a bit of a boost in HP then maybe look at a K1200 clutch. They are bigger and stronger but I am not sure of the interchangeability of them. There is no way I would be putting the HP of a K1200 (130) through a K100 clutch.

The injection moulding is a bit like a casting but not as grainy but still prone to breaking up at very high rpm and just tearing itself apart. Probably quite OK as it is but as soon as you stuff around with the structual intregrity you would possibly give it a weak point to start it going.
