how  to  make  a  cruise control  out  of  a old  innertube

for  k100rt 85

there  is  a  small  plastic  under  the  trotlle    when  you  remove  it  you  wil  see  the  same tred  as  the  valve  of  a  inner tube

take  a  old  valve  mount  the  inner valve  the  other way  with  a  bit of glue  , you  now  have  a  screw with  a  little  point

screw  it  in  the  handle  slide  a  spring  arond  it  and  screw the  nutt  on  so  it  will  not  unwind

now  glue  the  valve  covver  and  adjust  it  so  you  can  fix  the  gas in  any  position

best  regards  Eddy

I included one of these screws in a recent motobins careflight package.

couldn't see where it went ... then got distracted by something else

Not to worry, my RS throttle is neutral - it has an inbuilt cruise control and allows me to let go of the throttle and continue at same speed.

So for now, I'm leaving well enough alone and might use it for the RT whose engine lies gutted on a bench (...still!)

And how's the K1100 going, Bill?

I didn't like the OEM one too hard to get to especially with gloves. So I made one that is safer and easier to use.

Go Cruise. It rests on the front brake lever when you've decided what RPM you're gunna 'cruise' at. US$20 for the plastic version. They also make an aluminium version for about $30. When you're done with that one then simply turn the silver ally bit at the end of the 'bar. It's a Throttle Meister. Costs much more, but about as effective as the Go Cruise. On some bikes it helps reduce handlebar resonance/vibrations. If you really wanna go cheap, fit a rubber o-ring of appropriate thickness between the 'bar end weight and the throttle tube for added resistance: obviously not adjustable for tension.
