Am trying to put an old fairing onto my naked RS in prep for winter - gets cold here you know!

At this stage, the parts I know I need include:

·         Upper RHS metal panel (LHS has a big round hole in it…goes under the rubber fairing inner)
·         All brackets to mount fairing sides to bike. Q: how different are these to the RT brackets?
·         Screen wind deflector
·         Two smaller rubber trim pieces (they go between the windscreen trim and above the main side trim (with air vent) - both sides needed
·         Headlight lense – this one was broken.
·         Screws, clamps and bolts – but will go to the auto shop for this unless someone has a stack of them.

And on the wish list:

  • Rubber sealing gaitors
  • Indicator lenses for front (both sides). I know they’re hard to get …
  • I do have some parts to swap if you wish

Thanks

Guy (Wollongong)

IMO (if this is an RS fairing) you don't need the wind deflector. I'm 5' 11" (1.8m) and I found that it didn't make a blind bit of difference to either noise or rain clearance in any position at all. It was busted when I got it; I repaired it and when it fell apart again, I just didn't bother a second time.

As for the missing rubber trim: 8mm or 10mm sticky draft excluder works just as well.

[Edit] To make it clear; I had no deflector, then I got one, fixed it, used it and then it broke again.

Well I'm 8ft 3inches and get buffeted. Was banking on a 2inch piece of plastic transforming my life!

At minimum, just wanted to remount the fairing and see what it was like. Am enjoying the naked set up at the moment.

Thanks

Guy

Send a PM to Forum member DaleRT, he's from the Katoomba area, regarding the RS indicator lenses - I recall he posted about moulding some up.

Also saw a post on here or Motobrick about someone in USA either moulding or 3D printing some.

Cheers

I've got some fairing parts and brackets.  They were in an accident so I'll need to do a little straightening on them, but if you can use them, you can have them if you don't mind paying to ship half way around the world.

I have a complete headlight that cost me about $20US.  You can have it for what I paid.  If you like, I can try to post a photo of the stuff I have.

affraid  Buffeting is to be expected, I guess. Did you change the footpeg layout, too or do you just have a long torso?

Sorry fellas ... thanks for the replies.

Didn't scroll up to see the newer posts.

Was fortunate enough get the lenses and headlight and internal plastics from a very nice rider south of Wollongong (John)

Might bodge up a bracket out of some thin metal for now.

Thanks for the offers from Point Seven Five. Will get in contact if in trouble and no bite from Australia.

Regards

Guy
