Getting ready to sand and shoot these case covers when I do the rest of my bodywork.  Is it worth it (and can it be done in a non-damaging way) to pop off the emblem/reflector, de-rivet the latches, and pull off the crash bumpers, or can I get away with good masking?

I just do a careful masking job when I do mine.  It's faster than trying to remove all that stuff.

The reflector and emblem are held on with double sided tape. Use floss to cut through the tape. Mask the latches as they will be a pain to remove reinstall.

Whichever way you go, make sure you use adhesion promoter.  Cheap insurance to make sure the paint sticks when the plastic flexes.
