Opened up my final drive for inspection and found this on the inside of the casing adjacent to the top of the crown taper bearing. Everything else inside looks "normal" and in good shape. Mainenance records do not show any indication that the bearing or sleeve was ever replaced in the past (although I'm missing some history). Was thinking it was some markings from a tool used to pull the bearing sleeve, but I don't really know. Anyone ever seen this before? Is it "normal"?  - Hope the photos posted correctly...

That's maddeningly inconclusive, isn't it? Smile Incidentally, you don't need to worry about your photos posting correctly if you review them in your post by clicking on Preview before you submit the post.

Anyway, in answer to one of your queries, I've seen one of those before—in Clymers. Laughing

Yours.

Thanks Laitch. Looks like nothing I need to worry about.
