Hot off the press folks.
The ACT BMW  Club has settled on a date 30 Sep - 2 Oct 23, the October long weekend for some States and ACT in Woodstock NSW.  The Royal Hotel has some accommodation with the party planned for the showground (camping and vans, toilets and showers) with other accommodation a short ride away.

https://www.bmwmcc.au/event-3716482

Looks like the Far Cairn rally is probably the weekend before but so far I can not find any info on the BMWTCNSW website.

A birthday is an anniversary—the celebration or recognition of one, anyway. Regardless, it's a great opportunity to line up your Bricks and give them each a big kiss with a pat on the tail cowl. Just remember to include the Taxicab and the Whale in the fun so they won't become resentful. Laughing

And as Matt has suggested the Kosciuszko Rally is on the following weekend, so is there anyone who would be interested in attending both?  It just means we have to drag our backsides around that part of NSW in between both weekends.

If it has been an exceptional year for the snow I may even be able to jag a day or two skiing at the end of the season at Perisher.  If not we could just hole up in a pub somewhere and compete with Uli in some drinking games.  Always plenty to do around Canberra if interested.

I have been toying with that and maybe a trip to the SA Riverlands and back along the Great ocean Road in the week between. Shame the Far Cairn is 2 weeks before it could have been good to get three in one go.

I've been receiving the emails from the ACT BMW club, since I registered interest in attending, and got the word recently that the club had decided to do the 40th celebration of the Mighty K that weekend. Good news for me, as I had been planning to be heading back down undah in October - retiring in 13 days, not that I'm counting - but since I've not bought my aeroplane ticket, late September is easy enough.

I attended the "Kozzi" rally at Neehi in 2008 and won the long distance award, Queensland to the mountains. Some local challenged me 'coz I didn't have a sufficent tan, as outstanding as someone who'd have been in South East Queensland would have had when on a Spring weekend in May in the south. I didn't have the stomach to tell him I'd just come from 'Merika a week earlier, and legitimately rode my Airhead 1500+ kilometres down to there.

Who's got a K bike they're willing to share for a SE Queensland to southern NSW ride? I could ship my K40 down, but that'd be bordering on sacrilegious since it weighs about the same but makes so many more horsies...and the cylinders go in a different direction.

Thanks, Rick, that's a most generous offer. I hope to be 'home' by the third week of September, & look forward to the 40th K celebration. After all, where would I be without the many fine people I've met, & the many great roads I've discovered over the years on the venerable K589!? My black & silver '96 K1100RS was born on 30th May so I hope to have it roadworthy by then. It's 3/4 done.

Us Queenslander also have a public holiday on the 2 October Im not sure about the other states.

to added to all this the QLD BMW club will be holding a 100-year display in queen street mall the weekend before. 23/24 September
Talking to Grumpy and he will probably come up to the 100 year I will have the K1 in the show that weekend

Then use the week between the 25th to 29 to travel down to Canberra with him attended the 40Th meet in Canberra.
Then go the long way to the rally site on Friday

With a sprint home on the Sunday the 8th & 9th to go back to work to pay for all the pensioner's that I know  40th Anniversary of the Brick 652573

In 10 days, I'll ride with my brother and a friend to the Dijon Prenois circuit, for the Coupes Moto Legende event for theBMW 100 years and the K 40 years anniversary.
I'll expose 3 k: the K75GS, my K100 racer and my K1. There will be 40 K1 gathering and a parade on the track...

How time flies!

The celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the K Bike event at the Far Cairn Rally at Tottenham was my first big outing with this fine group of BMW gentlemen. As I recall our group of Forum members did quite well in the bike show that day with Smithy winning best RS and best K Bike awards and I picked up best tourer with my (now departed) K1100LT - and the life of The Banner commenced that day.

Cheers

Thanks heaps, Chaz. I am a bit reluctant to take you up on that offer simply because once you let go at the dance she's gone.

Our mutual mate Rick has offered either a K1200GT Brick or K1100RS for transport to the 40th K celebration. I'm inclined thataway. I would love to meet up with you up there in the highlands, however. You reckon you're gunna be able to roll with us to the 40th?

See ya's in late September. Meantime, I have a North American summer ahead of me and a metric sh*t tonne of free time coming available, with just one more eight hour shift left to go.

Cool

Excellent.  I am considering both the 40th and the Kozy Rally the following weekend, so it would be an excuse for a general gathering of members from all over.  As our favourite holiday home away from home on the Murray River is nearby, a night or two at Walwa may be an option.

As Matt has expressed an interest, when compared to his poor attendance record after expressing an interest in attending, I just hope our pensions don't stop if he is allowed to take leave from work.

Whilst on the subject of cold weather riding, for those who may be interested the Border Run is on the first full weekend in August.  Never been but I need to tick it off the list.

Does anyone know what the program is for the weekend? I see the event starts at 1pm on Saturday. Is that a bike show on then? What is happening on Sunday and Sunday night as the event finishes on Monday. There are no details on the BM Club website except where it's at, accomodation and start and finish dates and times.

Knowing the details will help to decide when to arrive, where to stay and how long for e.g. 1 or 2 nights.

About the I before E rule, the reason there are so many exceptions to it is the first part of the rule got lost many moons ago. So it's ; if the IE is pronounced as E (as in bee) then it's I before E except after C.

If it's pronounced differently then it's E before I, as in height. (Plus a few other complications)

Yeah, was just trying to point out that there aren't as many exceptions as often thought. Even "either" isn't an exception if it's pronounced the English way. I spose it's still spelt the same way in America, dunno.

I'm with you Daz.

I went to proper state schools where you learnt the basics through intimidation.  I can read, write and do arithmetic and have survived this far with no major learning difficulties.  Unlike the younger generations, the bunch of thickos.

How else would we go on to interpret and maintain such a well engineered bunch of high performance motorcycles?

By the way, do we know where The Banner is and can we organise it for the weekend?

For everyone thinking about attending, I will be updating organisational progress, accomodation advice and activities as they are firmed up on social media and the
https://www.bmwmcc.au/event-3716482 web page. How's that for Project- Manager speak?

Anyhow, the accomodation in Woodstock is limited to the Woodstock Hotel with a dozen rooms (probably all booked by now) and lots of camping and caravan parking at the Showgrounds on the eastern side of town. Camping is free for registrants from 29th Sept, with bathroom, electricity and hot showers, no BBQ or kitchen. Cowra is 22kms away and has numerous accomodation options and Canowindra is 24kms to the west, call the Cowra Visitors Centre on 02 6342 433 for advice.

We are arranging catering for Saturday night and Sunday morning, details will be sent out to registrants when we get an idea of the numbers attending. Same with rides around the district and a show-n-shine.

Regards BMWMCC.au organising committee

The hard part for me is understanding that with Dai's accent, does it actually sound correct?  To my ear anyway.

You got sucked Into the aether um eather um ether vortex.

I thought, I wonder if they go "iether" in Los Estados Uniodos, but that just doesn't look right. That's how I usually go about spelling. And if it still doesn't look right after a few goes, I'll just pick another word.

With the 40th anni approaching, attempting to organise a flight 'home,' landing in Brissie for family location reasons, end of September but not too close to the end, retrieve a K bike from RickG, then cover the approximately 1050 kms from SE Qld to Woodstock, it's gunna be a tight schedule. Tho' I hope to stay a month beyond the rally. Gotta see mum and rellies in Clunes, Victoria, as well. I do hope to catch up with as many forum members as possible. It's been 11 years since I left for the winter back in June 2012, with just six trips back over the years, each for a month or so. The time, where do it go!?

I won't be going to the 40th anniversary.
However, I'm happy to pick you up from the airport and drive you to Rick's place at Stanthorpe.
PM if you want this.

Cheers,

Knowing the details will help to decide when to arrive, where to stay and how long for e.g. 1 or 2 nights.

I have no idea what is going to happen but watch this space for the next enthralling episode bounce .
I intend to get there Friday afternoon.
I'm arriving there on the Friday as well. I'm booked in to the Hotel for two nights.

I felt a bit of a fraud when I signed the poster because at the time I'd only owned LFB for about a month and had no intention of keeping it. Ten years or so and three Bricks later... I still have LFB.

Charlie - what did I put on there? ('K100 Forum' side, smack-bang in the middle, signed in red).

Glad to see The Banner and friends have arrived.  Look forward to reading all the names again in September.

I guess we can discuss its next journey at the 40th.

Hi everyone, only 4 weeks to go - over 60 riders have registered for the Rally, so there is still time to make arrangements and come and enjoy the company of fellow Brick enthusiasts. Woodstock and the surrounding country is looking perfect - green and yellow fields of wheat and canola, the showground facilities are very good, so update your calendar and pack the bike.

Click the link below to register and select the prepared meal options.

just a week to go , before i take off to this one

who's going and what are your travel plans

thinking of leaving thursday , camping somewhere around Rylstone that night

travelling to site friday , with time on my hands to stop off at places i cant remember visiting before , like Orange , Cowra etc

2 night stay (with the banner ) at Woodstock .

then possibly just a couple of hours to Canberra (to visit a brother i havent seen for years )

but that's a sketchy plan for the moment .

Charlie,

So far Rick and I are overnighting Thursday to arrive Friday.  I am stopping at Guyra and Rick is heading to Gulgong (?) and we are both camping on site.  We are then planning on heading off to travel the Great Ocean Road and the Koszciousko Rally.

Gary, Jamie, Matt and another from the BMW club are heading down under their own steam and I believe staying in the Pub.

Expecting a good turnout from the Hunter Krew as well and I think Waz.

Unsure of anybody else.
