Not really an introduction,  more a hi to those who don't know me,  Gordon in Tasmania,  been checking in occasionally since my relatively sudden silence,  ghosting,  haha.
I've admired so much the folks on here who openly expressed their feelings on life's difficulties including their journey in some cases to their sad death. I have n't been able to share in that sense, till maybe now, the people I met personally and internationally on this forum helped me so much for a number of years, mentally , I'm really grateful for their support so..
 I'M BACK..

Hope I can work out how to post pics haha.

Ghost!

I still remember the night at Araluen, you turned up from Moruya, the forestry road up the escarpment. We were all outside, enjoying the occasion and the drinks...one of the early K bike group get together. You were covered in dust and looked plumb tuckered out. Welcome back!!

Rickmeister.

As a little add on to your first post here, this forum has been a life changer for me after the economic crap storm we got here post 2007.

Iin 2010 I ended up on a 1982 K100LT purely by chance. I wasn't even looking for one, my shopping list was really a Moto Guzzi Le Mans, Ducati 860 or something like that.

But someone somewhere suggesting trying a K bike then I found one for sale. At about a quarter of my budget.

I had never so much as sat on a BMW at any time in my life, apart from rides in a friends sidecar. So I took this K100LT for a test ride, liked it and bought it. It needed some work done so I trailered it home instead and dropped it off to a friends workshop with instructions to fix it.

He did so and thus began my K journey. I found the forum, had some issues and a long time member, 88, offered very helpful advice that led to us meeting up.

It also led to many other things, trips, helpful advice, sociable gatherings, travel and foreign travel, meeting many more K riders in the real world, not just locally but from around the globe. Some from travels, some who have come here. At this stage I can add Canada, US, UK, Spain, France, Australia, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Denmark, Italy, Portugal, Hungary, Poland, Ukraine and probably more.

Another one, we had our Christmas Brunch a few weeks ago, we were joined by SG Mayhew [and his wife Mary], who sold his K100LT back in 2015. He is now a sprightly 80 but it was like old times.

It has opened doors, constantly bringing new friends and folk.

It has also brought friends who have passed and made an impression but never got to meet in real life, Rossko, IngeK, Ariel Widget, Ken7Oaks.

I even bought a K off the forum last March, paid my money and had it collected all without seeing a photo. Appropriately it was on Patricks Day.

A special word of thanks too, to Crazy Frog, as in Bertrand Vogel, I have had the privilege of meeting him and although he has more or less retired from here, leaving the forum in some very good hands that would be good to meet some day. We continue to enjoy facebook video calls and a whiskey I keep for those occasions.

More than most groups, folk seem to open up a bit here. Its what makes it special.

G'day, Gordo. Glad to hear from you again. Like Rickmeister, I too remember Araluen. clearly and dearly. I picked Liz up in Sydney and we rode down from there, and she returned to SE Queensland on the back in some intense rain storms. It seems like only yesterday, but it may well have been back in 2011. It wasn't the first gathering of east coast Aussie K forum fools & ghouls, but it was a memorable one. Reading through the link (below) was a real laugh. Talk about thinking things are permanent!   Wink

Like a lot of you, this forum has kept me in touch with several folks I am glad to call friends, even if I'm  still a long way from home.

Let us know how you're going. That K75 stir burbling?

I found the thread...most of the pictures are gone in the early posts, but the tale can be told again. I'm listed as Guest 'coz I was doing the 'Guest in the House' name then after I'd returned having signed off the forum for a little while.

Remember you more than fondly RT, a brief conversation at Araluen and we were brothers in my mind. As for TWB, Rickmeister, Tom and Ulrich, Alby and Col from Canberra and who was that guy who fixed my front brake? What a person you forum members are privileged to know, I'm sure all will agree ...Charlie , thanks mate I'll see you soon.
This isn't the place for general conversation, I hope to open old threads and create new. Thanks Daz for the pics, was an awesome epic even , ride for me, nofront brake , coming the wrong way haha, Rick and the others already at the pub knew it was a K from the characteristic whine, coming from South not North . And for the record that's me with the Liz photo, yeah look again, there I am, and it was me who helped her disrobe, so much for TWB's new age guy persona.

Hi Olaf, sure you got my drift, I'm a man of few words and they don't always make sense,  life changing at the time, the importance of the forum at that time was enormous not sure it kept me sane haha but it kept me grounded or close to. We had a go though as we say in aus and actually met and believe me these characters that still contribute to this space are the best folk. You already know I'm right but as "blokes" we don't tell each other enough.
You were one of the first to coin K pox or admit to it and I hope to add to your story, I'll see your K and raise you 3 RTs.
