Just got myself a K100LT bmw
Been working on it for awhile now and turning it in to some "ratrod" build

Ha the name thumperslaw is from my uncle mike who had a srx yammy is streetfighter mag in the uk (big single)

Welcome Thumper, I will be keeping a keen eye on your project. Looks interesting.
As for the air flow meter, you will have to live with it. You can't delete it but i have seen a few variations on here as to mounting it in different spots etc.
I have my plenum chamber off at the moment and i think with a bit of fiddling you could mount it back to front. That will bring the AFM out to the L/H side which you could then put a ram type filter on the end of the AFM.

You can also(here in oz) buy a pod filter adaptor for our AFM, just go to your auto speed shop and get one to suit an earlier 3 series BMW car AFM.
You seem handy with the metalwork side of things so making up a cover for the whole thing wouldn't be a hassle.
Good luck with the project anyway.
