Does anyone know if I can fit a K1100LT EXHAUST SYSTEM on my K100RS without major surgery? I would hope that a few brackets etc would do it. Any ideas?

Sorry about cross posting between forums (fora) but I like to know asap.

I have a feeling that the mounting brackets are in different positions so to mount it you would need to make some custom brackets.

It's been answered - just the brackets! cross forum answered!

Just completed developing a replacement system with Keihan, which will suit either machine.
Just looking for a stock k1100 to check bracket fix, then it's GTG. K100 is already completed and awaiting pricing.

I suspect that when you put it on the rolling road that there will be little or no power increase at least that has been the past experience with K 100 that I have seen done. I saw a test a few years ago in one of the UK journals from memory when they tried 3 aftermarket "performance" exhausts and they were a very minimal increase in one case and a loss in the others. The standard K100 exhaust seems surprisingly good.

Slight misunderstanding here K-Bike - no claims are being made for additional performance gains, mileage gains, etc. K1100LT exhaust on K100RS? Icon_cool

It's simply a QUALITY replacement alternative that is not going to require a remortgage to purchase, AND with the practicality of allowing alternate off the shelf silencers to be used. The stock system IS no doubt efficient [ even if it is prone to breaking - k1100 ] - that's not the point, it's the COST that is the issue.

Quite frankly, for the type of riding MOST Brick riders do - an odd 5 bhp here or there is probably irrelevant. How many times has your brick been near the red zone during the average week? I don't think mine's been over 5K in top.

Hello Beachcomber,
If you want me to try to take pictures of my stock K 1100 exhaust fiited on the bike, let me know and i'll do it for you. In fact i'm looking for a quality replacement one, due to a break in the exhaust pipe at the juction with the silencer... i'm about to try to weld it with a mig because the crack is not too important but i know this could only work for a while K1100LT exhaust on K100RS? Icon_cry and a Remus one is much more expensive than the price my financial minister will allow me to pay for K1100LT exhaust on K100RS? Hey Green Cat,

I am going to the factory tomorrow [ Keihan] to collect my underseat system and finalise the prices for the K100 replacements. K1100LT exhaust on K100RS? Icon_lol

The K1100 system is currently being road tested. Then we want to fit it to a standard bike - standard pegs, panniers, etc. When we are happy with the fit, the guys at Keihan will finish the jigs and then we have a price for 1100. K1100LT exhaust on K100RS? Icon_wink

Yes - it is the problem of breaking with the K1100 - that is the reason we went ahead with the prototype - MANY people asked about it!!

Hi Beachcomber,
My K100 RS gets near the red zone most times I go out, YMMV as the Americans say. I have a good friend whose K100 RS exhaust cracked at the four pipe junction and he simply welded it up, no replacement was necessary. If mine ever cracks I shall at least try that option before replacing.
Regards,
K-BIKE

K-Bike - ahh the wide open spaces. K1100LT exhaust on K100RS? Icon_lol

Here in the UK getting close to the red zone in almost any gear above 2nd is likely to get your photo in front of Mr.Plod and a fine / licence lost! Unfortunately the same in most EU countries as well. K1100LT exhaust on K100RS? Icon_mad

Where I am in Saxony - the cameras are used mostly as a source of revenue - no hypocritical nonsense about they're "road safety cameras". Also they're pretty well camoflaged and sometimes partially hidden!

I am fortunate at the moment, as all my driving there is done in my UK registered cars and it's not worth the bother of chasing up the fines back in the UK. However, in the Summer there are many mobile cameras and they are an on the spot fine - irrespective of nationality.

Yes, welding mainly works - but what about when the silencer needs replacement? No option then but to replace the whole lot. That's the point of this system - 3 pieces - all of which can be replaced independantly. K1100LT exhaust on K100RS? Icon_wink

The other day on my way home from work two kids in full-on motocross outfits on unregistered dirt bikes joined me for about 100m on the major road. One of them did a wheelie and held it for about 50m... cheeky little bastards Smile

cops? ... the kids just duck into thick bush and disappear Smile
