I was having trouble synching my tb's and getting it to idle at 1000 rpms and overlooked the obvious........ vacuum leaks. The rubber boots and injectors are fine but mine (91 k100rs 4v) were leaking at the base which uses an o-ring. I'm too lazy to tear it down for a $2 o ring so i did some research and found a product made by permatex called spray & seal (p/n 82099) used for sealing oil and low pressure leaks. i normally don't fall for these "easy fix" products but for $10 i thought it was worth a shot since if it didn't work i'm sure it could be used for other sealing/waterproofing applications. bought it at napa and the gal behind the counter said she sells lots of it to local repair shops so that was somewhat comforting. it sprays on clear and stays clears so the mess and eye sore is minimal. directions are to, after cleaning area thoroughly, warm up the vehicle and spray after turning off. for better sealing i decided to spray w/ bike running so it could suck a little in and then immediately turned it off. then i applied two more coats w/ bike off per the instructions. after an hour of drying time i got the tb's to synch and the idle is spot on. don't know how long it will hold but so far so good. extremely difficult to clean & spray the back side so i didn't even bother for now. but if it doesn't hold i'll have to come up w/ a creative way to do the back side.

Must remember that gear sounds good.
By the time you get enough stuff off to get at the back side you may as well do the job itself.
